Rotary gets faster results with more risk of burning trough the clear coat

DA can get rotary results when using Meguirers MF polishing system it speeds things up compared to foam pads (cutting, polishing, finishing etc) I prefer this over foam and less risk Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I use a DAS6 and have done quite a few of my own cars over the years with good results, never burnt through or done any other damage. I keep a selection of various pads and cutting compounds as each make of car has different paints/ clearcoats so some very hard to correct (VAGs) and some very easy with soft paint (Fords and the FL)

Just had a practice with the das pro on the bonnet with menzerna fine compound so far, very pleased with the results so far, full car to follow.

Had wheels off yesterday swapping tyres front to rear and gave them a clean using dragons breath. There is a scummy coating almost yellow in colour on the insides of the wheels which didn’t shift with either that or tar remover. Clay bar shifted it really slowly but I didn’t have time to totally clean all 4, any ideas for a more powerful easier solution? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black

My car is 11 years old and didn't look like it had had much done in terms of paintwork protection when I got it, always looked 'grey-ish (Supposed to be Sumatra Pearl) so all that I had done previously was to wash and polish using MERS polish and MERS wax. So after doing a lot of research and reading this thread, I tried a few different products on different panels and have now settled on:

Clayed using a Farecla G3 Clay Mitt
Pure Definition Heavy to Medium cut, followed by Medium to Light cut then Poorboys Blackhole show glaze, Dodo Juice Black Widow Hybrid Car Wax, and topped with Dodo Juice Supernatural Acrylic Spritz Spray Sealant.

What an amazing difference it has made, having gone from poorly maintained, bush scrapes, stone chips (Not got got rid of the chips, but the fillers have helped disguise them) roller car wash marks. It now has a sparkle, depth and slightly wet look as well as an incredible smooth feeling when I run my hand over the surface.

Well worth the effort and didn't cost a fortune to do REME .. Rough Engineering Made Easy

Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Lago Grey

I recently bought a Halfords own dual action polisher, went to use it today for the first time and it gave up the ghost after about 30 seconds! £85 refund no questions asked, made me wonder if it's a common problem. Back to the Autoglym and cloth by hand....

Down under due to lack of water we use the 2 bucket method or if the car is really dirty the 3 bucket method (extra rince). Just a few drops of detergent in the water in the first bucket to make the water wetter, starting at the top of the car & working down. Wheels second last & wheel arches last.

Very shiny AiiEEX . . . . . . . but I'm wondering how many others on here are just wishing you hit a big puddle on your first trip out the garage Laughing Sorry
I used to shine up my Impreza like that, and with it being mica blue it looked similar to yours. The Landy's Orkney Grey so you don't end up with the same look

Cheers Mark.
I used Menzerna polishers. A course compound followed by a finer finishing compound using a DAS6 RO polishing machine I brought back with me from Oz. Sealed with an Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection sealer.
Just pleased to finally get rid of the swirl marks inherited from the previous owner/s.

Here’s another pic. This time from the side. So shiney! It won’t last long though Sad
