HID help

Hi Chaps, I have fitted a pair of genuine HID headlamps to my 2007 HSE TD4, not the adaptive type just normal HID, With the engine off they work perfectly but after about 10 seconds of starting the car they suddenly go into meltdown and just flicker then go out Neutral Have I missed something out or is my car not set up for these lamps???

Hoping someone can help please Bow down Look at meee.....

The car needs to be told it has HID lamps fitted, I believe, this will alter the way the lamps are driven from the electronics and stop the flicker. It's a dealer or someone with the correct equipment to do the job.

As per taztastic, I believe that the CCF needs to be overwritten to Xenon, as mine was from Halogen when Stratstone retro-fitted mine. There is a thread on here somewhere...I know because I have read it in the past...have a search me old fruit.... Foraging near Gaydon....

This is what someone else wrote about the problem elsewhere, may help?:

Hi, I've been selling HID kits for several years, the problem you're seeing is due to the lower resistance of the bulbs in comparison to standard ones.

Essentially you've added an in-line resistor that helps the situation, however as the ECU/CANBUS on the vehicle is not 'seeing' the correct resistance it's pulsing the lights. In some vehicles it will just kill the power to the headlight on one side or on a particular beam.

There are companies out there that sell flicker cancellers, personally I've not gone the HID route yet (Ironic really)
