So came out this morning to find one of my tyres down - looks like its a razor blade job. I'm hoping it was not while the car was on my drive but if so should have the little scrote on my cameras ( oh the joy of looking through the footage ).

Whats worse is in LRs great wisdom they no longer install as spare - stupid imho !

So as discussed I'm planned I'm going to replace all 4....

I'm looking at Pirelli Scorpion Zeros or Wrangler HP A/W or any other suggestions....

Thoughts ? Black circles seem a little highside so I'm going to look on the net and check my local when they are open Monday.

Event tyres, £149 a corner for Pirelli scorpion zero, I have those tyres and cannot fault them, Event come out to you and fit them too which is a bonus

I just replaced my tyres with new Pirelli Scorpion Zero's, Blackcircle quoted £162 fitted but my local which is where they would have been fitted in conjunction with Blackcircle said they would do them for £138 fitted.

Scorpions are quieter than my former Wranglers but have a bit of a poor rating for fuel economy, but look for around the £138 price.

Event do not cover me

I'm going to try my local when they are open with the hope because I go there a lot I'll get a good deal..... Just got to wait until Monday

£138 is about what I'm looking for on the basis its 4 I need.... and not 1

I noticed the fuel economy rating on the new Mickey Mouse rating system, what a load of boll s
Bl dy EU f wits coming up with traffic light signs for everything.
More grip = Less economy
More economy = less grip
The figures are absolutely nothing to do with real world scenarios though so ignore them.

Good tip from EY though, find out who your local tyre fitter is and contact direct, might save a few quid

Still not sure which is better - GY or Pirelli.

I've read the GYs seem to last longer and are better economy but the Pirellis are quieter and worse.....

So fridge lables aside what are the real world results ?

I got 42k out of pirellis and changed them at 3mm, no experience with wrangler but do hear they are noisier.

Halfords online did Conti 4x4 Contacts for £153 same as OE, Asda were less than a quid more but fitted at the same place, got 32k on those changed at 3mm. MY14 TD4 manual XS Orkney grey.

I've not had to replace my tyres yet but on previous Pajeros I really liked Grabber ATs - not too expensive and with a really thick tread they lasted ages. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

I had those Pirelis and I had to get rid of them at 4mm because it was winter and the car was all over the place on ice / snow. When I looked closely, ALL of the tread / sipes within each treadblock TOTALLY disappears at 4mm and I was just left with the blocks which I thought was a bit cheeky ! I am now on the Goodyear Wrangler AW and cant fault them at the moment but I will see what they are like at 4mm. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
