True or False

Now is this True or is this just LR being silly,

Had a phone call from my local dealer saying that my car is due a MOT ,that part was true. Then they went on to say that it needed a service at the milage for its age, to which I said really it only done 43k and was serviced this time last year at 39k so in that time its only done 4k .. They went on to say yes it a good idea to go with the age not the milage .. thats the 1st I have ever heard car service age related not milage .. Shocked .

before i forget its 2008

I have a felling they are trying to pull a fly one or is it true? Confused

Answers please Bow down Iain

Pretty sure they are right, service schedule is mileage related or annual, whichever comes first.

Any warranty you may have will normally be conditional on servicing at the required intervals, but once out of warranty it's really up to you. My car's out of warranty, and I'll now be going primarily by mileage not age.

One of the reasons given is that low-mileage cars are often used for a lot of short journeys, and it's really the cold start period when most of the damage is done. But since most of my trips are longer I feel I can safely ignore that one.

Basically, so long as you're out of warranty, you paid your money, you now get to take your choice Smile

As Pab says, it's your car, you do as you wish. Do take into account the service book record though, this can have an impact when selling if you have not followed the guidelines. Thumbs Up

Yes, true. But on a 5+ year old car I doubt that it'll make that much difference.

My dealer also said it was a good idea to replace your car regularly before it develops faults, they told me that when it was only 3 weeks old too, offering a good deal on a new one.
Sounds like the car only supposed to last a month at the most.

when you buy a second hand car one of the things you check is the service history and if the service is not complete or done to the manufactures recommendations (i always think if they have skimped on servicing what else has been neglected) the price will have to be less or there are plenty that will have a full and complete service record

Speaking from within the trade, a service combined with an mot is a win win for the garage! If you are having an MOT done, to complete a basic service, you only really need an oil and filter change plus a top up of all fluid levels and you're done. Whistle Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

As said above, 12 months or 15000 miles.

Mine is 7 years old in December and it still has its annual service done by my LR dealer. Although Mine still has less that 60000 miles on it, the next service will be the 105000 mile service which is the 7 year service.

I have always done this, and never missed anything when it comes to the service schedule, and always done by an LR dealer.

So you could ask is this and the fact I have had 100% reliability a coincidence? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

All my Land Rovers have been maintained by the standards set by LR and serviced by my supplying dealer. It's just my own veiw but they cost a lot of money so like them to be maintained properly. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Re: True or False

Papa smurf,
I own a 58 FL2. As prev stated it's 12 months or 15k service interval, which ever comes first. Neither do you have to use a dealer for costly servicing. I use an indie & save over 50% on dealer servicing costs, using OEM parts. Landy has now gone.
