So first chance to try the Freelander in the Snow this morning - went to pick up a friend to get her into work (she works in the care sector).

Please to say (as you'd expect) no issues with the FL2 - went everywhere I needed to without an iproblem (apart from watching out for other drivers who probably should have stayed home)

Looking for another reason to head out and about now Smile

But you're forgetting that some of these have only just got over their thrice-weekly KFC withdrawals - stocking up just in case their local cafe runs out of bacon sarnies

Got stuck... Embarassed

Been pottering around in the 110 ( no TC or ABS) without a care in the world over the last couple of days, fresh snow, packed snow, drifts, slush, all no problem for high range open diff - snow? - what snow?

Anyway, after a cross country trip to check the nags got home to find one of the dogs had a puncture wound in one leg so had to take him to the vet. Took the FL2 as it needed a run & better to put a dog with an open wound in it than the back of the DCPU 110 which is mucky & dirty.

Trip there was fine but return trip not so. Pulled over on a slight incline to make room for a car coming the other way & when I pulled away again the TC kicked in and we did precisely sod all in the going forward department! Reversed down the hill a bit to get some 'clean' snow & same result! Reversed all the way down to a flat bit, got a bit of momentum & was then able to scrabble up the hill.

Was in GGS & tried to get revs up but the TC seemed to want to limit them. Car has Yokohama AT tyres on it so not normal road tyres.

Seriously unimpressed!!!

When the engine cuts revs then is the time to turn of DSC manually, this allows the revs to rise freely.
It's well documented and maybe this was your problem.

When I first bought a FL2 I could not drive off in a carpark that had 6" of snow, every time I pressed the accelerator the revs rose and immediately died with no movement. I then remembered a post on here about it and turned off DSC, drove off no trouble.

Did an emergency run though the blizzard yesterday evening to my partners elderly grandmothers who's carers couldn't get to her. (Then found them in a near by street and helped them get un-stuck) Then assisted a few neighbors getting out including a pharmacy run this morning.

Just can't believe how good the FL2 is in these conditions!

Got well and truly stuck in the dark Friday evening on a Wolds lane Thud Crossclimate tyres worked perfectly, in fact too well as the problem was I ended up floating on the car belly. The snow under the car belly had set like concrete. Was never going to get out the road end anyway as a local Hilux or similar was stuck in front of me and that is why I eased off in my 2 tonne sledge and finally ground to a halt!

Started digging but fortunately the local lad had mates with off roading discos and in an hour or so they turned up and dragged us both out

So I have this to say, the Achilles Heel is ground clearance. Tyres fine and grip was fine but when you are in deep tractor ruts you are never going to get through unless its fresh powder snow running beneath you. So listen to Yorky, throw another log on the fire, top up the whiskey glass and put on some good music and stay at home. These are not in standard form up to off off roading in deep Yorkshire snow. Went on our first real run since buying in October with a trip down to the Kent Coast for Significant Others birthday. Until now it's been down to fairly local stuff, of no more than perhaps 20 miles.
Have to say that the journeys were effortless and an absolute pleasure, and so comfortable.
Smiling faces all round Very Happy
