Do you really need a car radio aerial as big as that on top of your car in the outback?

As seen in other thread there seems to be a constant threat of "no network due to rain". So maybe yes ... Andreas

Finally got round to replacing the pollen filter with the one that's been sitting on my desk for a few weeks. Lucky that thing's so bendy.

Washed and cleaned the freelander, it’s out of winter hibernation and ready for caravaning. Even put some diesel in it. Very Happy

I was in dire need of new boots, seems like 235/65/17 is hard to come by.
Had these on an Alfa years ago and loved them. Not sure I'd like them in a wet field, but I do like the thread pattern

Went on a road to nowhere ...

Took her for a ride on unpaved roads for the first time after two months of ownership. Not much worse than the tarmac in my Home town. Rolling Eyes

Installed a 255/55-18 Toyo Proxes Sport SUV on to a new spare wheel from a Range Rover Evoque, so it's 255/55-18 on 18" x 8" and ET 45, so plenty of distance between tyre and rear shock absorber.
It was a test to see if it could work, which it does.

This is for Summer road use, and my 17" with 235/65-17 are for off-road.

Kind regards,
Redfox.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

As most of the main roads seemed to be clogged with holiday traffic, I chose the 'shortest route' on my SatNav instead of my usual 'Fastest Route' and discovered single-track roads across country that only my FL" seemed to know about. (it would have proved disastrous if anyone else was about as the FL2 SatNav found miles and miles of 'non passing place' roads)

As I live in the relatively crowded South of England I find it amazing that such roads exist.

I recommend to anyone bored with main roads and motorways, just select shortest route, it's so much more interesting and pretty, although a little slow. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

Right, so new Brembo Front brake discs and Brembo Sports brake pads, clips etc. installed today. Will see how they perform, but surely better than the old worn out front brakes.

Cheers,
Redfox.

Today was time do do the rear brakes, so new Brembo discs, pads, drum pads, clips, caliper glide pins, drum pins, bolts, screws, springs and what not.
Oh, what a joy to install the longer spring between the two drum pads and then lifting them in place. Anyway, it's done and I'll readjust the handbrake in a couple of days. So gone from a non-working hand brake when I bought my Freelander 2, to a fully working one. all greased up so should not rust and move for a fairly long time.
Cheers,
Redfox.

Still fighting with P2263-21 error (limited power mode). Appears only when weather is warm, above 6-8C.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Bali Blue

Didn't do anything. Just had a hip replacement so on light duties and no driving. I have put the battery on charge to keep it topped up. I was collected from hospital by a friend with a Land-Cruiser, thought I'd need a bloody ladder to get into it. So all you young'uns, something to look forward to. 11 GS Bali Blue

Took the old broken terribly looking short tailgate handle off and installed a facelifted one that I have painted Izmir Blue and having a black contrast stribe.
Looks and works well.
Cheers.
