HDC - anomaly ?

happy Easter to all ! Smile
I have a question for the forum. yesterday i went off-roading with the Land Rover register. Our path (the Mild one) had become 20Km of mud ruts (heavy rain in Italy)
I put the terrain response in Mud & Ruts and the HDC light comes on.
it works fine in 1st. gear then in 2nd. gear the light flashes that its off (up to here all ok)
BUT:
my HDC works in 2 gear as well... and in neutral it brakes the wheels !!!! have u guys ever experienced this before ?
if i take it out of terrain response all is ok. or if i switch the HDC off, all is ok as well !
Neutral
any ideas ?

England

Morning Donnus, Happy Easter to you too.

Yes HDC works in second and neutral, despite a warning message that may say it is not available in this gear.
many people have experienced this anomaly.

I am away up in Kielder Forest next weekend, looking forward to testing out in a few ruts myself Thumbs Up

Its perfectly normal, it will work in those gears or in neutral without a problem Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up
thanks guys ! I was worried there.
though i must say that even when accelerating (in mud & ruts) it tried to brake for the first few seconds !
I suspect the software needs a bit more homework !

Just discovered 2 bad scratches on the passanger side, the length of the car ! Big Cry
I hope they will polish out ! on the black they show clearly !

@ Taztastic: make sure you guys go before the Defenders & Discoveries ! We went in the afternoon after the Defenders and Disco's had gone through... the mud ruts were more like canyons by now, all dug deep ! I kept hitting the bottom on rocky outcrops in the middle.. eventually we (Freelanders) had to abandon the track to avoid serious damage ! Censored

again

Big Cry
today i took her out for a nice rough ride.
After a spate of mid steep hill pull-offs (trying to see the capabilities) - the HDC fault message comes up.
On the road, afterwards (no special response selected), I insert the HDC. The car is in second gear, and immediately she slows down and activates the HDC.
even in neutral down hill the HDC works !
I am scared to think that one could press the HDC on the freeway, and the brakes come on !

any ideas ?

Bow down

England

It is disabled above a certain speed and if you press it, it doesnt suddenly lock all the wheels and pressing the accelerator counters it anyway.
The best way to try things, for me, is find a quiet road and try things.
The people at LRE did not know what would happen if you press the stop/start button when moving, so I tried it.
A simple press and it does nothing, a long press turns off the ignition,a quick press and it re started, not advisable but at least now I know Thumbs Up

One of the features demonstrated on the LR Experience is the fact that you CAN go downhill in neutral with HDC activated. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
