Nice video.
For those of us who don't speak Norwegian, what's the executive summary?

Tiguan is the best buy (most value for money), FL2 is the most comfortable car to drive, and the X3 overall has the best abilities.

I sent them an e-mail saying it is stupid comparing Tiguan to FL2 and X3, as they are in a "higher division" than Tiguan who should be compared to RAV-4 and similar cars. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

I agree with you, and disagree with the motor-journalists. (And I told them so in my e-mail to them)

I tested extensivly both FL2 and X3 before ordering. I found FL2 much more comfortable than X3 (that gave me headace on bumpy roads). In fact, -in every way I found FL2 better.

But motor-journalists have a different view on this. They want to be rally-drivers (and failed to be so), and I suppose BMW has a "name" in those circles. So never mind what they say. FL2 is the best of the two. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

Auto Bild also did a comparison between several small SUVs, the VW Tiguan was first, the FL2 and the X3 were sharing the second place.

Actually they kind of used that as a teaser to read the article and watch the video.

"One of these got stuck in the snow" was the heading. Read on.... etc.

No surprise it was the X3 that got stuck in the snow. If you watch the video carefully, you will see FL2 having no problems under these conditions, Tiguan is driven through the tracks allready plowed up, ....and X3 stuck in the snow. Thanks for summing it up Viking. Hope everybody is satisfied with your translated infomation. To me it looks like they actually tried to get the X3 stuck in the snow and didnt drive the FL2 in the same way to test the difference. However the result would no doubt have been the same, with the FL2 coming through with flying colours and the X3 stuck Laughing 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I notice that too about the motor-journalists.
They tend to put handling, acceleration and other sporty characteristics above most other attributes, from which point the X3 should be the indisputable winner.

But lots of people care more about comfort and other aspects, which to be fair most good reviews discuss as well, even though it may figure less into the final conclusion.

Me, I'm all for the "real deal" when looking at an SUV, even though I probably won't have much chance to use it off-road as much as I'd like to. So the LR2 wins for me in the premium compact SUV segment. I don't have one yet, but soon..

Germany 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

I share the views of paulwlee and others that todays so called motor journalists must live in annother world than most of us. The conditions of our roads (at least here in Germany) are getting worse and worse because the re-unification of east and west has and still cost too much money, and the cash-boxes of our governments are empty! And still, the most important quality of any car seems to be the fast cornering ability and road holding in general, but at what cost? Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes ML- AMG, Touran V10, BMW X5 M-Series with top speeds near or above 250 kmh are the runners. But non of such SUV is suitable for off-roads. What development is this? And our motor-journalists happily and without any criticism follow such "standards" as set by the automotive industry. And worse, any automobile which does not come up to such "standards" is punished by lower points. What stupidity.

Sorry, I had to write this to easy my mind a little.

X3 V TIGUAN V FREELANDER

I too was undecided between the X3 and FL2.I also found the FL2 more comfortable but far inferior in the handling stakes! X3 is a fantastic car to hustle along winding roads- in fact one of the most fun handling cars I have ever driven. The X drive system is fantastic.I prefer the FL2's higher seating position and comfier ride but if BMW raised the car to the same height as the FL2, and put an auto box on the 2.0 litre diesel I think I would struggle to decide between the two. Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys
