Service Costs

Has anyone had their FL2 serviced yet? Could you share how much it hurt the wallet?

Thanks,

I was about to tell you there is another thread regarding cost of service, but it would be no use to you over in Oz

Which is why I posted in here because if I convert the costs you guys pay I'm looking around $1,000 for a service! That very scary!

The labour costs seem fairly high compared to what I use to pay for my previous car.

Another question for the Aussies would you take your car to a trusted mechanic (i.e non-LR dealer)?

I got my Freelander through Alto in Sydney and because I work for a 'large' company they threw in free servicing for 3 years. Very Happy
That removed any last doubts I had about how any lack of reliability would affect me financially.
But sadly I won't be able to tell you the servicing costs for some time Sad

Thanks,

No service as yet, however when i was doing research, i came up with prices from about $350 to $450 for the 12k one. Bit of a rip for an oil change but what are you going to do?

The $350 ish one was on the gold coast, also Toowoomba was close to that also but they said they haven't done one yet, maybe you can be the guinnea pig?

P.S. I'm trying to keep up with your off road antics after missing the mt mee trip, had water up to the lip of the bonnet on sunday, no worries, except for the wet patch in the drivers seat Shocked

Thanks Wade

I bought my FL2 from Toowoomba but I dunno if I can drive up there for a service.

My neighbour owns a Bridgestone Tyre Dealership and has serviced all of our cars for years for a very good price but I don't know whether its a good idea giving the FL2 to him or not. I'm also not sure if he will want to work on it... there's not a lot of room under the bonnet!

Southside LR have quoted me $350 including a courtesy car. Not too bad.

Australia

100 -150 dollars
Catch is i supply oil and filters
Just did the 24000 km service 140 dollars
Had discussions with Land Rover before purchasing about non dealers doing servicing
I refused to drive for 2 hrs just to have it serviced
Finally they agreed that if there was substantial evidence indicating i had used genuine parts then they had no issues.
So i bought enough spares to do all services to see out the warranty
Surprise, was that the spares were reasonable in price
I buy the oil in 20l drums from the local penrite dealer

Hello all

Just did first service at 13,000. Cost $427.95 total Composed of;
labour 212.80
oil filter 28.26
Mobil 1 oil 112.20
workshop sundries 23.80
Environmental levy 12.00 (oil disposal fee from local govt)
GST38.91

Also carried out;
sun roof water entry recall - warranty so no charge - fitted new water chanel tubes
added 2 sunroof wind deflector clips - warranty so no charge

Still unresolved;
Reverse sensors go mad when reversing an unbraked trailer.

Happy with car overall and Mrs loves it - she even drives it in Sydney traffic but has always refused to drive other vehicles there.

hi ub2 if your tow bar was fitted by the dealers it should have been set up on text book to recognise you have a trailer and cancel the sensors when you have a trailer connected. If not you have to take it to dealers to be set up

Thanks Rover

But did all that. As I had the first Australian towbar fitted the original software upgrade caused major electrical problems - killed car for 3 days. Pity LRA had not released guidelines on how to wire up at that stage. It was suck it and see. Auto elect wired brake controller wrongly into the light control - nearly killed us by locking trailer brakes at 100Kph when auto lights turned on in a shady cutting.

When all those issues were resolved I needed the vehicle but then discovered the problem of the system only recognised braked trailers but failed to recognise an unbraked trailer. Took some time to get back to the dealer as i needed the car. Just had mods done so hope to finally be able to reverse an unbraked trailer without reversing alarm going mad. Will post outcome after the weekend.

Just had my FL2 serviced today...

Labour $135.00
Parts $ 28.40
Oil $106.60
Misc $ 29.00
GST $ 29.90

Total $328.90

This included a free loan car (FL2 SE i6).

Is $100 for oil expensive?

Just pick up the car from Trivett Sydney.

the service cost AUD633.30.

Service 12,000km/6mths ---> $325
Oil filter I6, washer, washer additive ---> $35.41
Mobil 1 oil, sundries, waste oil disposal levy, oil top up ---> $215.31
GST $57.57
Total $633.30

also checked loan car, $66 per day.

only 8050km on the clock and I reckon it is way too expensive. My 3 series service cost a lot less.
I will definitly call around before I book in my 2nd service.

Oil filter, washer and washer additive looks OK. But the other lines look way too much. Do they list how much they charge for labour? The oil shouldn't be that much. If it is fully synthetic Mobil 1 I would guess around $80 to fill a six cylinder. I wonder what sundries is?
