what is the small unit between the 2 sunroof

Hello everybody,

very happy to be part of this forum and a proud owner of a freelander 2.
This site has helped answer plenty of questions Ive had and I hope to be helpful too in whatever way I can.
For now I have a question regarding an electronic part in the freelander2 that I have no clue of what it does.
I hope someone can let me know what is the part that exists between the 2 sunroofs in the headliner as you can see in the below picture. It seems to have 4 openings at each corner that seem to look like it has 4 tiny speakers.
Is it a speaker or some sensor.
I have tried in vain to be able to hear anything from it in case its a speaker inspite of increasing the treble to max( assuming its some sort of tweeter )

Thanks again.

thanks so much taztastic and wizking, that was so useful to know ! I had read about the volumetric alarm before so once to test it I had locked the car and began to move around in the driver seat to trigger it but nothing happened.

Now that I know this is the sensor I wll try a few more moves to trigger it. Laughing

Glad to know its not non-working tweeters !

Quite a few on here have found it not to be working, remove it from the headlining, squeeze the sides and pull it off, disconnect the wires and reconnect, test again and it may well work.

The following topic will also help Thumbs Up
