Freelander 2 Reliability - Anyone seen these problems?

I have a Freelander 2 TD4 2010 model that has done 84000km's.
I love my FL2, I spend 2-3 hours a day driving around the city/motorways and it is a great car to drive, very comfortable and seemingly well build.
6 weeks ago I had the bearings in the rear diff replaced under warranty as they were very noisy.
Once this noise was gone I noticed a 'knocking' from the front left suspension when going over minor bumps.
My car is in at the dealer today and they have told me the front swing arms are worn and need to be replaced under warranty. Confused

Has anyone else had similar issues?
It would be interesting to know if I am the only one or if these are common problems.

When I bought this car the plan was to give it to my wife after the lease was finished and to keep it indefinitely.
I have 1.5 years left on the lease but after the recent problems I am thinking of swapping it over early before anything starts to happen.
The new parts they are replacing these faulty ones with are exactly the same which makes me feel that in another 80-90000 km's the problems will come back again. Neutral

My wife has a 2007 Subaru Forester which is a super reliable car and my car before that was a Subaru liberty. Both cars never had any problems like this at all. So for me early failures like this are not normal.

What does anyone else think?

All cars have problems, and that goes for the cheapest, up to the most expensive.
You have just been unlucky, and bearing in mind the thousands of parts manufactured to make cars, a few rogue ones will always get through.
LR have built over half a million Freelander 2's, so even with a small percentage of failures on parts, that still means some will fail. 1% on that = 500 possible faulty parts etc.
Don't know what anybody else thinks.
As it's getting done under warranty, the chances of you getting more slightly sub-standard parts fitted are negligible.

I don't believe that after almost 100k km you can call a car unreliable because a worn rubber piece...
It's like walking with the same shoes one year and ask why they worn out...

Indeed the bearing should last way longer, but LR has acknowledged the problem openly and has a fix for it.

Think yourself lucky that you have had only those two issues, yours seems very reliable to me

Certainly does, 84000 and the clutch and flywheel havent fallen apart, thats good.

I had diff nose bearing replaced at about 50,000 and am now over 85,000 without any issues so I think you can have some confidence in the repair and replacement process.

No issues with suspension bushes. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red
Gone... 2008 (09MY) XS Td4 Manual Stornaway Grey
Prior... 2003 G4 Discovery 2, 1998 Disco 1 and 1997 Disco 1 Company car before that
Also gone in Nov'13, after 7.5 yrs, to new owners with time for more TLC - 1980 Series III 88
Current 2015 Discovery Sport HSE 2.0

Still on original diff, and suspension bushes - touch wood.

Our last FL1 was ok before we took it to the desert, and needed front suspension bushes when it came back, so maybe it's environment related.
We don't get much dry sand in Manchester - to be honest we don't get dry much in Manchester at all. This car spent the first 12 months going down quarries most days, again wet mud rather than dry dust. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

My Diff was done at 20k, any advances on 20k Question

I know most new cars these days have a few problems just didn't expect them to happen before 100000km.

Anyone know what the Disco 4 is like for reliability? I am thinking of upgrading within the next 6 months.

The Freelander 2 looks to be the most reliable LR model thus far. The D4 is apparently an improvement on the D3, especially re economy, however it is a complex vehicle still with much to go wrong, relative to our Freelander 2. having said that, if I could really afford a D4, I would likely get one! Disco 4 economy is not that much improved in my experience.

Compared to my 2.7 RRS was half a mile better average over 13 months, mind you cold weather really makes a difference with the fuel burning heaters and probably better in the warmer climes where heater is not fitted.

No probs with Disco 4 20 ,00miles no probs RRs 33,000 miles except bushes on front nearside at 30k, no probs 2 Disco 300 tdis, no probs Disco 2 x 2, looking forward to the same with FL2 Very Happy

Dont get me wrong about the Freelander, I love my FL2. The reliability thing was just a question I threw out to everyone to see what you all thought.
It is probably the most comfortable and nicest car to drive that I have driven and everyone who sees it and sits in it comments on how impressed they are with it.
Yes so Disco 4 reliability... Question Depending on who you ask and what forums you read some people say there are never any problems with Discos and then there are the forums who just talk about problems with Discos. Just need to talk it all with a grain of salt.
Problems aside the specs and capability of the Disco is unmatched in my opinion. The only thing stopping me buying one is the cost at the moment.
