I see a lot of free landers with side steps but wen searching I only find replicas is this what people use or am I looking in the wrong places? Thanks guys

Genuine from the dealers, but you pay through the nose. Many after market designs, including the ones I have that uses holes already under the car.

I got mine from ebay and look like landrover ones at less than 1/2 the price, I also bought a rivit tool to put the steps on for about a £10 which was well worth it, made the job easier. 2013 hse auto, black, almond leather, exnon lights, factory privacy glass, exhaust finisher, rear boot spoiler, mud flaps. Body door side moulding and steps.

Personally I do not like the way these look on the car. Are they simply "bling" or are they genuinely useful for shorter passengers?

Whilst they probably are useful for shorter passengers that's not why most people fit them. I'm with you - they look awful. Don't do it!

....and they don't poke out far enough to stop door dings. John

Mine stop door dings, fitted them for that purpose.

Well I guess its a matter of personal taste. Personally, I like mine, and think that it finishes the car off nicely. It also assists in cleaning the roof, as well as getting in and out even for someone with my height (I'm 6'1" by the way!) Foraging near Gaydon....
