Your lack of power is more likely to be the EGR valve sticking causing excessive smoke, higher fuel consumption and rough or uneven idoling.

i have the time but how do i do it! When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car |

I am not convinced by these blanking plates to be honest. I have not yet heard of anyone who has one fitted and it not giving hassle in some form or another.

I am almost sure that the MIL will come on after blanking EGR valve as the ECM monitores the amount of EGR flow |

It might on a Freelander however in the past I have blanked off EGr's on Citroens with great results and blanking EGR's is often done on VAG diesels without any harm or problems although some engines benefit from an ECU tweak. So, the situation appears to be that JLR have such a complex EGR install as yet no one has figured out how to by-pass it? I suspect this is probably deliberate on the part of JLR...... When the 2.0 TDi VAG engine was upgraded to common rail I recall VAG tried to make it impossible for the re-mappers to inject their magic however wasn't long before a way round it was found..... eh tu? |
