TR won't come out of M&R

Parked in a wet and muddy car park at the weekend so engaged M&R to ease out without spraying self or other cars and succeeded without issues. Got back onto gravel tracks and thence to the road so returned TR to OFF. When out of 1st, HDC Green light flashed and info panel said "HDC not available in this gear".
Checked TR set to off, it was. "Fault" persisted. This is the second time this has happened but this time I was determined to sort it out.

Had chance to switch off and on again at a red traffic light - no effect.

Found a filling station, parked at side of forecourt, switched off, Mrs B and I got out, locked doors, opened and restarted - same. Steering angle graphic also came up when manoeuvring, just like it does in M&R. Above a certain speed (about 40?) the light went out and the info panel briefly stated speed too high for HDC. Light came on again at low speed and off at high. Drove home and into garage.

Next day everything as normal - anyone any idea what's going on? Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

Dodgy TR dial Idea

The car resets itself back to standard after been locked up for iirc 6 hours so that might answer why it went back to normal

I had something similar a couple of weeks ago - I hadn't been using M&R, but it engaged after I started up and wouldn't turn off again. It eventually cleared when I pressed the HDC button (even though HDC wasn't supposed to be on).

I don't think it's the selector itself, as that still had the normal mode light on, rather something with the electronics. Now waiting to see if it happens again.

Did you stop the engine while the TR system was in one of the other modes apprt from normal road? If so it can take some time to reset to special programs off. Im sure I read it in the handbook some where.
The same thing happened to me a while back when I turned the engine off in a special program. On starting the engine the next day it wouldnt go off for some time Thumbs Up

No way, I have been in and out of terrain settings, stopped the engine, re-started and you can return to road settings any time you like. It really is designed to work that way and if you read differently I would like to read it.

Also, if you turn the engine off of a night or whenever and 6 hours elapse then Terrain Response defaults to road settings automatically when re-started.

pab seems to have the same as me. I know if you get back in and restart in less than 6h it will keep the TR setting that you had at switch off and revert to TR-Off of left for more than 6h.

When returning to road setting the TR dial light was in the right place and the throttel response was normal (not soft) so I think the knob is OK. I could get the flashing green car to go off by pressing the HDC button as in manual select/deselect but I'm wondering what state the Haldex was in - 50/50? I've been in and out of TR settings many times and it has alwasy worked fine apart from these odd occasions.

With my old Disco2 and current Series 3, you don't keep the diff lock in when on tarmac as it induces tyre wear and loads up the transmission. Anybody driven their FL2 long enough on tarmac in M&R to know what might happen? Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

Before you get to excited and start giving your wallet a heart attack try doing a hard reset. Disconnect the battery for ten minutes and reconnect, reset your windows and see if that has helped. Thumbs Up
