Low washer fluid message

Got the low washer fluid message the other day, so no biggie, filled the washer back up, problem is it still says low washer fluid and now the headlamp washers aren't firing (maybe due to car thinking there's not much fluid left) any one had any experience with this??

I notice that you can see quite a bit of the washer bottle with the headlamp out, might be worth seeing if you can do it that way

Or maybe a jet spray of water from the hose to maybe dislodge the float if the sensor has one Idea

You can get at the washer Reservoir/pump by removing the driver side front wheel arch liner.

The Headlights need to be on for the Headlight Washers to work, if they do wash, they only wash one in every five presses of the button and wash each Headlight independently, not both together Thumbs Up

You beat me to it Taz!

There are normally at least two pumps for the washer bottle. There is possibly a thrid for the rear screen. The upper one is for headlamp power wash and the lower for screen wash. Once the level falls below the upper pump, the headlamp wash will no longer work Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

yea I'd guessed that, so I'm guessing sensor is dead, since the washer bottle is full but still no luck, I'll have to have a look around, the sensor are only £3 anyways

If you suspect the sensor, try putting a small wire between the two terminal. The warning lamp then should go out Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Not wanting to hijack or divert the course of the thread, but do all Freelander2's have the low fluid warning, I usually top up every couple of weeks but I ran out over the weekend which caught me by surprise, I did not get a low fluid message, Obviously the manual is not trim level specific, and assumes you have a HSE with all the toys, where as I have an 'S' poverty spec. I don't know if I have a non-working sensor, or if I don't have the facility, the fact you cannot check the level of the fluid makes it a bit awkward. Neil Hampson
