Does anyone know.......

I am going to replace the mat aluminium trim along the dash, round the key slot and around the headlight switch for the later piano black trim.

Also the two sections on the steering wheel to piano black.

Does anyone know how these are removed from the car?

I have decided to freshen up the interior as the car will probably be staying with us for another couple of years. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I thought it was LR best 3M sticky tape

But would it not be easier to have them vinyl wrapped in your choice of finish Idea

Really? Interesting. I know these alluminium and wood effect kits from LR are stick on, but I thought the original parts were s screwed or clipped in to place.

I have thought about buying an alluminium kit and having it painted gloss black and laquered. It would have the same effect but could be cheaper.

I just prefer to do it properly if I can. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Maybe your right, I might be confused by the kits you buy Confused

Never taken one off, but I have been in a newish loaner RRS that had piano black and that was like a vinyl as it was coming unstuck around the airvent, so even the OEM ones might be a vinyl finish

Could be a 'dealer special'?? I know mine does some one off cars that are hideous and tacky.

You would probably need some trim tools... You can buy a set of fleebay for a tenner. Usually this sort of trim has all sorts of weird and wonderful clips behind holding it on, and takes a long time to find where the clips actually are, and what type.

Best to buy new trim and see what the fastening type is Thumbs Up Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Thats what I was thinking Dave. At least then as you say, I will see the clips and it doesn't matter if I break the clips off the originals. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I saw you've done the hole job, Mav71, replacing the trim. I think the result is rather nice.
A have one question, though. Before piano trim you had aluminium one. Looking to my dash, it seems I have none. My question is: how is the piano trim hold in place? 3m tape or clips
