retro fit Terrain Response and auto headlights

another post about adding options that should have been added at the factory!

i've just bought a terrain response module and the auto headlight module that must have come from a GS.....and i'd like to fit them to my S just so that i can drive around feeling smug that i didn't pay full price! Does anybody know (esp BlingedFreelander) whether these are just plug and play or are other parts required. Each bit was a fiver so i'm struggling to think thats all there is to it but i spose you never know what goes on in car factories these days....
thanks
pete

somehow I think you may need another couple of parts, especially for the terrain response system.

Iain

ps if you could fit terrain response for a fiver, even Landrover would find it difficult to justify the £5000 extra !!

that's what i was thinking; although TR is an electronic system only that presumably uses brakes and throttle to control spin. There's nothing mechanical going on after all - or is there?

If the LR SAT/NAV is not just "plug n' Play" I doubt very much that the TR knob is Shocked
Still, its something to twiddle when zapping down the motorway Whistle 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Agree can't see that being that simple.
Good luck though hope it is. Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

A big Maybe on the lights but the terrain response mod I very much doubt it-I would say No chance but I'm not an expert Whistle

I have my doubts over the Terrain Response too. Confused For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days.

surely the lights would need all the other hardware such as the sensors in the windscreen?? are you saying that these are all there on an S?

As for TR, this is not out of the realms of possibility I suppose (with some ECU reprogramming) as presumiably the Haldex unit would be the same with the ability to be proactive so it just becomes a case of programming the traction control?

Either way, i'd be interested in the results

edit - hang on would the S have the dash display incl the steering wheel angle sensors etc? maybe there is some more hardware that would be needed for TR to plug in and work on an S Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

When the OP says he has a 'module' maybe he means more than just the twiddly bit in the car, because if it is just that, then I feel it's like sticking a V8 badge on the back and expecting it to go quicker. For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days.

well we'll see. both arrived this morning and the backs are stamped with Land Rover and Volvo so some sharing of parts going on there. The auto lights will have to wait but the TR is just a big switch, with one 'out' socket on the back. This is obviously shared with the hill control and the DSC so you never know, it might be a plug and play with any fault code to be corrected later. Much the same happened when i had the towbar fitted; the dealer wanted some £600 from new!! so i went to a specialist to fit, (£380) then at the first service (independent) they corrected the fault code.

I'll give it a try on the weekend and let you know....
