Ok who was it ?

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

Not mine!!, brings back memories of my first car. I owned an Astra, it broke down one night, when I got out I could see an orange glow in the wheel arch. On closer inspection I could see flames! Fire brigade said electrical fault.

The only time I know of that happening to a friend after someone had worked on his FL2 and not filled the gearbox back up with fluid. 2008 FL2 TD4 XS Zermatt Silver, Manual

Happened to my wife's Astra as well. Avoid Astras!
IK'm confused by the comment under the video - if it's under 3 years old it should be under warranty surely. Unless he set it on fire deliberately (some forum members have threatened to in the past!)

Probably not connected as age of car different...but Freelander 2 recall notice from October 2008

BOOSTER HEATER - POSSIBILITY THAT VEHICLE MAY CATCH FIRE
VIN: ALFA27B47H000100 to SALFA24C48H111695

Build Date: 1/2/07 to 23/5/08

Defect:

It has been identified that the controller circuit of the Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) the supplementary cabin heater may short circuit. This normally results in draining of the battery, and a non start situation. Additionally, the short circuit may lead to a distinct smell from hot/melted components which in extreme circumstances may develop into a fire. It is noted that, all of the above symptoms can occur when the vehicle is in use, or parked unattended. Shocked

I suspect there was a smell of hot/melted components in this case, but thats just a guess. Rolling Eyes _________________

Looks like it was an LPG dual fuel car according to a fireman who attended. (See Daily Echo Bournemouth front page today)
Family day out ended badly, but at least no one hurt. _________________
