Thought I'd try a couple of suggestions:
1. I'm being semi-serious here, have you tried using a small child or is the gap just too small?
2. What about borrowing a set of "go jacks" and rolling the car out or at least enough to try option 1?

I think if you put a small child in the car and then couldnt open it still and get them out it might be called child abuse these days and youd be on the front pages like Savile Rolling Eyes

If the Victorians sent them up chimneys then getting into oldgeezer's car should be a doddle Whistle Laughing

here we go, i will post an image of how close the door is to the wall, it proved very difficult just to get a fishing rod through the gap to pull the bonnet catch.

when the car is jacked up the front tends to swivel closer to the wall !

What's the white thing on the left, can it be removed or is it the wall?

Deflate the tyres on the right hand side, jack up the left hand side (with a "real" jack not a LR scissor one) and it could give you more of an angle to open the door a little wider?

Alternatively, how much is the glass excess on your insurance?

Could it be towed out?
If you're anywhere near Swindon, I'm happy to try and help

Well done mate, great to know that the boy was able to help out.. he will be no doubt well chuffed with himself actually! : )

I forgot to ask.. and I know its obvious, and you tried it... but, the buttons on the dash for the central locking, did they work at all?

no when it goes to sleep nothing works.
its a frequent event but its getting a real pain in the Censored
I'm often away and due to its unreliability in the past i use a reliable car for my trips.

I also leave it parked in the garage because for three years it wont start below -1 and the wipers always started when you hit the start button causing the wiper arm linkage to bend if the wipers were stuck to the screen in snow or ice or after few days of sun !
starting and wiper issue now fixed but took three years so just don't trust the piece of junk at all !

Well the simple answer is to get rid of the " Piece of Junk", you keep telling us . so just get rid of it for something more reliable Exclamation

I would love to but i bought a caravan to match the car thinking that a 28K car was a premium car .

I want to change the car but if I do I will need to buy a smaller van as well ! so the Landrover has cost me dear and I haven't had any return out of it. If the vehicle quality and landrover service and customer service were worth their salt then I doubt it would of been a problem.

To be honest, I still think it is a premium car, and the only car I have bought twice. I understand you have had problems but I rate the freelander 2 highly.

Hmm - to avoid this problem in future do you know if the drivers door inside handle will open the door - if so you could loop a cord round the lever, through the steering wheel (to get the pull in the right direction) and out through a small gap you've lowered the window for. I know this is a bit pre meditated but it seems the OP knows he is going to leave the car for a while and that this might happen.

If double locked it will be dead locked so no other door other than passenger can open.
