Loadspace / Boot Floor

Well I've finally picked up the car on Saturday and very pleased with it. Thumbs Up
One query I have is that my boot floor doesn't look like its reversible. One side is carpeted but to my dismay when i flipped it, it doesn't look like its got a rubber side, In fact its not even flat as it has a recess in the middle for the pole thing coming out of the spare wheel recess.

Just wondered what everyone else's "reversible" boot floor looks like on the non carpeted side Question

Its just it says it reversible in the user manual and also brochure. I have a MY11 model.

Thanks!

Carpet one side, shiny plastic on the reverse with a hole in the middle for the spare wheel bracket.
It is fully reversible even though it looks as though it isn't.

Simply get some heavy duty carpet and use the removable floor as a template to accurately cut out a properly fitting mat to put on top of the floor.

Yeah I suspected this may be the case, just looks not really thought through and half finished. The BMW I had before had a wipe clean rubber mat on the reverse side.

Not bad idea Tigger. Save myself the £70 buying the rubber mat accessory and go to B&Q instead to get some vinyl flooring. Terracotta tiled floor effect sounds good!! Mr. Green

yes it is reversible, but i think it looks more like they thought of the idea "after" it was made!

Exactly my point. You could argue most jackets/coats are reversible but obviously it doesn't look right inside out Laughing

I best go organise a liner then before the little one's pushchair makes a right mess of the carpet. Big Cry

the carpet on the boot floor is easily hoovers and hose piped down when it becomes a mess

I got a boot liner though, to make things easier, black, water proof, covers the whole boot area up until the load cover Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I went to Costco today after work and came across a rubber boot tray/liner thing for £7.99 + VAT (not a typo) measuring 80cm x 100cm. Fits surprisingly well in the Freelander 2. I'm well chuffed with it Thumbs Up

Just flip it over the reversible side is "unfinished". Watch out for the "red" plastic hook thingy attached to it.

Reversed the boot floor on my first LR2 (freelander 2) the day after I picked it up from the dealers, and left it that way. Years later the "finished" side was still in showroom condition.

Me too. I also removed the red hook thing as it kept getting in the way. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

Am I missing something here?
You deliberately turned the boot floor over, so that you used the Censored side, just so the next owner could have the benefit of using the proper side in a new condition. Exclamation

You buy a new car and take a massive depreciation hit as you drive out the dealership, for the pleasure of owning a new car. You then deliberately do use/enjoy the car to it's full benefit and still feel happy about the depreciation?

Each to thier own I suppose.
Mines getting used and abused as intended by LR, and I for one am loving it. Really don't care about the next owner, because I always get a pittance for my cars due to the mileage. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

It's not so much that, I just don't like looking at carpet with loads of crap stuck to it. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

Another vote for the liner you linked for me some time go. Up to now, even the labrador 'feathers' haven't penetrated it.... Rolling Eyes
