I'm not sure if I dare say it.............. auxiliary heater

My question was going to be about the aux heater so I've trawled through the threads a bit and just want to check I've understood what it is.

The spec on the dealers web page (no doubt, non contractual...) and on the spec for the car on the www.findmea.co.uk website both specify that the car I'm buying has an "Auxiliary Heater".

It's a Webasto/Eberspacher type jobbie which boosts the heat coming into the cabin until the heat generated by the engine is sufficient to meet the demand for cabin heat. Operation is automatic, I just ask for heat and it arrives; I don't need to know what is providing it.

No provision is made for UK market cars to operate this heater before the engine is started to aid cold weather starting.

Can a tin hat protect you from the fallout when you open a can of worms ?? 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE.

Aux heater is a electrical ceramic heater situated in the dash to aid hot air clearing the cabin when starting in colder weather

the webasto ones are installed in some foreign market FL2, but have never been able to be spec'ed in the UK car Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks for the replies chaps.

So, the "auxiliary heater" that is fitted is not the one referred to in the handbook (p108). No wonder I'm confused. Looks like this is going to take some getting used to. 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE.

Beware the handbook. It has some gaps (like how to mask normal-type headlights for driving abroad), as well as some info about things that are/were not fitted as UK spec (like DPF on earlier models). Can lead to a lot of head scratching.
