Should be H7,

Lots of threads on here, often philips night breaker or halfords x% brighter are recommended

Went to Halfords today. Later FL2s have H11s for dipped beam and H7s for main beam. Land Rover have even been kind enough to inscribe this information on the headlight lenses.

Asked for two Halfords Extreme Brilliance H11 bulbs but Laddo at Halfords insisted that my car needed H7s. We went out to look and I showed him the inscriptions on the lenses, but he still wouldn't have it. He then set about trying to disassemble the light from behind. I had to stop him before he broke something. He then decided to accept that I was right.

However, he then announced that they don't stock H11s. I had to explain to him that I had checked online that his branch had them in stock, so he went off to look. Eventually he appeared with two H11s as originally requested. Luckily they were on a two for one offer at £27.99.

It was fairly easy to swap out the bulbs by removing the headlight assembly (no way would I let Halfords do it). So now I just need to wait until dark to see if much difference.

BTW I noticed a review on Halfords web site was written by Tigger. Thumbs Up 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

Been out for the evening. The new bulbs are definitely an improvement, but I had hoped for a blue/white hue which is not apparent. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

what have you got projectors or reflectors ? When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

Halogen lamps work better with reflector units, Mercedes have reverted to reflector units with Halogen lamps, the projector type are simply not suited for use with halogen lamps due to the filament size and focal point of the lens, most of the light is lost inside the housing and doesn't come out through the lens.
Hunt around for HID units, worthwhile upgrade IMHO Thumbs Up

Thanks Taz. I am not too well versed on the different types of lighting. Is HID different from xenon?

Would there be issues around auto levelling etc? 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

If you can find HID units, they have self levelling built in.
Retro fit HID kits will give you superior results but don't self level and will cause problems with oncoming drivers.

Xenon is a gas used in both filament lamps and HID lamps, it just confuses the issue.

Filament xenon lamps burn brighter than halogen giving more light and a whiter light.

HID uses an electric arc in a gas filled capsule burning extremely brightly and with a higher colour temperature, so they appear very white, or blue at extreme levels.

These are what you need Thumbs Up

Only Freelanders fitted with Xenon and Adaptive Xenon headlights have built in self levelling, all other models have manual headlight levelling.
