Which oil and do i have a DPF???

Hi Guys,
Thinking about doing an oil change on my 2008 SE FL2. I just need a little help with buying the correct oil.

Am i right in thinking its 5W30 oil and will Castrol Magnetic (fully synthetic) do the trick?

I read somewhere that a DPF needs a low ash content oil but im unsure if i have a DPF and if the oil stated is low ash Smile

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Chris

If your car is diesel it will have a DPF.

Do a site search and I'm sure you will find a post that lists the VIN after which UK FL2's had DPF's fitted. Perhaps someone will be along shortly to provide you a link to that thread.

Nonetheless I confident that MY2008 UK vehicles did not have a DPF fitted. BUT DO CHECK THIS OUT Exclamation

Fairly sure MY2008 UK diesels don't have DPF fitted - mine registered March 2008 definately does not have one. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

DPF's are only fitted in the UK since the MY11 (facelift) models.

Ad1234 is correct, the only reason an earlier model would have a DPF fitted, is because it was an export model or it has been imported.

Magnatec is fine but something to bear in mind is in June 2011 LR changed oil specs.
'Edge' is a premium oil and 'Magnatec' is a mid-range oil but both are recommended by Castrol. The A5 or C1 is the important thing here, C1 is the 'low ash' for DPF.

To clarify DPF fitment:
From start of production DPF was available as an option in UK
11MY onwards 100% fit for UK vehicles due to EU5 compliance.

It was an option prior to MY 2011 Shocked Live and learn, saying that just about to have the second service and no problems the DPF yet Thumbs Up
