Finally got around to having mine regassed today after spending days in this heat without turning the aircon on ( didnt want to do any damage).
The awful noise has now totally gone and its icy cold.
I'll update if it lasts or not

May I just ask if the whirring sound some of you are hearing sounds like a small metal fan hitting against something and does it only happen when the AirCon is set at its lowest temperature? I think it's coming from near the front passenger footwell and the fan sound only happens for a short while.

My FL2 went in to Caffyns because I am still unhappy with a couple of sounds it makes (detailed in another thread) and it came back without those noises being resolved and with this new one, which is related to the Air Con. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends

This is my noise exactly. Only started occurring after a re-gas, so far they have replaced my compressor and its going back tomorrow with the same noise just quieter now. 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

Yes that is the sound..Sounds like you can hear the fan going round clunking...A re-gas sorted mine.

Hi guys, all solved with a completely regas.
Obviously, the mechanic said me, it would be reccommended to replace the compressor with a new one. (used: in force there)...
Without words...
I answer him: try the first step with a regas... is very strange for me to think a correctly operating compressor (non hearing strange sounds), is near to replace.

He said to hear a strange noise from the bearing, but not me.
Absolutely.....and I'm not deaf.

He refilled the circuit, grumbling, and like i was expecting, the quiet come back in my Freelander.

Bye.... Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies. Is a regas a warranty item? I bought the car in January from Caffyns and I want everything sorted under warranty before it expires. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends
