Strange Noise When Turning On Full Lock

Im getting an occassional deep 'woo woo woo woo' noise (keep the sarky comments to yourselves) when turning either left or right on full lock. Any idea what it might be or whether it is normal? Its only 12 months old and 16000 mile so wouldnt expect anything to have wore out just yet.

On full lock the power steering system can emit some noise but if it is excessive it could be the return of the dreaded steering rack/pump/filter problem of old. I would get it back to the dealers for a diagnosis. John

On full lock it is quite normal for the power steering motor to make a noice. The motor is trying to pump fluid round the system but is meeting additional resistance due to the wheel being on full lock. Most, if not all cars with pwer steering will do it, it's as though it's trying to tell you to take some lock off to relieve the pressure.
