Can anybody give me an explanation of the vin codes for the freelander 2 gs auto 2.2 diesel. many thanks.

The easiest method is to find the white sticker on the spare wheel in the boot. This states the year and month build date Thumbs Up

hey PJW,

Actually it was some UK guys that noticed the spare wheel sticker.

My export model has a sticker containing this info on the door frame (as per the LandRover handbook) - but that's another story...........!).

But yours will be on the spare wheel.
