I can understand the situation with LR not supplying a password, the activation of the rear windows is allowing the car to be used for a different purpose than originally intended, this may give rise to tax implications for LR?
Either an after market sunroof or those spinning ventilation type things may be an answer?

tax implications

hi taztastic,

just asking how can activation of rear windows allow it the vehicle to be used for a different purpose than originally intended,
as for tax implications why is the disco so easy to do .

when in phone conversation with LR customer relations I explained that I had paid VAT on the commercial and I cant claim the VAT back even when selling the vehicle ,I also explained that I was willing to alter the road tax from commercial ,the vehicle will not be having rear seats fitted I did not buy the vehicle for any tax fiddles, iam quite happy with the freelander apart from this hiccup,

I am sure there will be a way, It was just an opinion as to why they refused at the eleventh hour, seems odd, especially as you say the Disco is so easy.

Commercial rear window operation

Any recent updates on reconnecting the rear windows on the commercial, mine has motors which are connected and plugged in fuzes in place no obvious wiring missing. When the lights are on the rear window switches disarm light on the main drivers switch cluster lights up saying the rear door switches are disarmed ( so power there) . Man with the box has checked that the car is configured for all windows ( box ticked )
Baffled now as to how they have been switched off any more ideas please.
Gary

Hi Spanialman, been to landranger services in Stockport mate. They plugged the box in which says its configured for all windows so it's a dead end at the mo, the only thing they can do is trace the entire power route to the rear windows to look for a brake or unplugged wire/ relay . Power at the switch all fuzes in !!!! Doesn't look like it's going to be quick easy or cheap to sort out.

Quick update :

Pulled off the door trims and everything is where it should be, motors, regulators, wiring looms the lot !

Spoke to local LR dealer and they didn't even know you could get FL2 commercial !?!?

Now with my local specialist who plugged in and got the windows working as part of a test process, so it's just a case of programming the control unit from commercial to passenger vehicle....

Awaiting software update now !

According to this post earlier in the thread its software related. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Does anybody know if switching software from commercial to car would alter any other functions , I want and need the commercial sett up but as I don't load up high having the the vision is safer / more practical than panelled off windows .But having the rear windows opening would be great for my Spaniel & Hawk when the cars not working.

hi bailey boy, as I said in my earlier post you need to have two updates software, take of the plastic panels on the rear door windows only held on with mastic on the door frame, on my vehicle which is XS spec the rear door windows are factory fitted tinted windows which surprised me when I took the plastic panels of, having the windows software updates affected nothing else ,if you need any more info more than happy to help,

When door modules are fitted there is a "learning" process to be actioned for windows to operate. It would seem feasible that this is not done in factory for commercials

I can activate rear windows on the commercial if anyone is near Rutland... Have done it on my own.. Takes about 30 mins..
All hardware is present and plugged in... Just basically needs telling that it has them...

Not a difficult job...
