I am looking for a pair of towing mirrors that will stay on and appear secure.

The 1st set I tried worked well on the FL1 but they were the rubber strap type and tended to slip down the streamlined back of the FL2 mirror.

As a lot of caravan users enthused about them I then bought a pair of Milenco clamp on mirrors. If clamped on to the top edge the profile of the mirror rim is wedge shaped and although superficially secure as soon as any pressure is applied to the back of the mirror to simulate drag they immediately slip off. Can't put any more pressure on the clamps as they are distorting the plastic as it is. The bottom edge would be better as there is less of a wedge shape but there the clamps would foul on the doors when the mirrors fold.

Anybody have alternative ideas (not you CG, I can imagine yours), I think what I am looking for is a combination of the 2, straps and clamps. (or is my imagination as vivid as CGs) Prog rock is cool!

Never had a problem with Milenco Grand Aeros, but don't over tighten them, if you over do it they start to slip, never lost one yet and have the set for over six years now.

I have an earlier set of Milencos with simple clamps and strap. Which seem to work ok. I see on the bay you can get alternate clamp pads for the Aero type to fit Freelander 2. see "MILENCO AERO TOWING MIRROR REPLACEMENT V PADS - PACK OF FOUR". I guess they will do the business!

Have had no problem with Milenco Grand Aeros which give a superb rearward view. The car mirror does need marking so that they can be positioned in the same place each time due to the curve on the the Freelander mirror casing. I did this with a piece of black insulation tape so that edge of it lines with the inner edge of the inner clamp. Remember there are never problems, just new challenges

Absolutely no problem with our Milenco mirrors. 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

I have found the V pads on the Milenco web site where they specifically mention them as a solution for Freelander 2. I have called the place I got the mirrors from and they are trying to get them for me.

No matter how I fitted them I found very little pressure on the back of the mirror started the outboard clamp to slip. As they specifically mention these as a solution for FL2 I presume I am not the only one. Prog rock is cool!
