2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black
Wheel expert required!

Hi all,

Having had a very ungraceful moment the other evening getting my FL2 well and truly stuck in some wet mud and water, I've decided that I may need to change my 19 inch wheels for 17s and get some AT tyres on!

I have found a set for sale but just need someone who knows what they're talking about to confirm that they'll fit my vehicle as the description is a bit confusing. They are described as: Freelander 2 Alloy Wheels 2001> 7j x 17 et46 5 x 114 BBS I'm most confused by the 2001 bit.
They are genuine Landrover and are the 5 double spoke type of 17 inch wheel.
If anyone can confirm that they'll fit as a direct replacement for my 19 inch shadow chromes, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance
JB

Almost certain that:
Freelander 2 17" is 7 1/2J and the PCD is 5 x 108 so they look to be Freelander 1 wheels.

Thanks for that. It says in the advert description that they're for Freelander 2s 2001 onwards which is what threw me, but if they're for the original then that would make more sense. Now to find some reasonably priced FL2 17" wheels!

Much appreciated!

I think I know where you have seen them and they do look very like the wheels fitted on the "S" model to me.

Agreed, but wouldn't some AT tyres rather than straight Conti road tyres potentially just make the difference between getting stuck or not? (can't get AT tyres in 19 inch)

The wheels I'm looking at look very similar to those on the LR site under 17 inch 5 split spoke allow in the options menu.

These are they:

If they are fl1 wheels they won't fit the fl2. Why don't you contact site sponsors ajs 4x4 as they sometimes have sets of fl2 17" wheels and tyres for sale?

Seems either the advert is wrong and that they are in fact 7.5J rather than 7J or they are indeed FL1 wheels. Probably not worth the risk to find out!
My next move was a call to Andy at AJS to see what he's got so fingers crossed he'll have some stuck. Thanks for the help chaps.

I checked with the guy selling the wheels and he confirmed that they are from at 2004 mk2 Freelander 1 and not a Freelander 2. Will be speaking to AJS shortly!

So...Am taking the plunge and going into AJS this afternoon for full replacement of wheels to 17s and General Grabber ATs.

Does anyone have any ideas what a Reasonable price for four shadow chrome 19 inch wheels with conti tyres on might be. All have minor marks on, one has a one inch scuff mark. Two tyres at 4mm two at 2.5mm. I'm in two minds whether to keep them or not...

If you can get winter tyres for those wheels then keeping them might be the option. Proper winter tyres will be better even that ATs in the cold and the snow

Job to say, they are worth as much as someone is willing to pay, having just seen a set of the later HSE wheels sell on the known auction site for £502 with no kerb marks three of the tyre were over 5mm and the fourth was new.

Cheers for that, I'm pretty sure those are 18 inch rather than 19 inch though.
The cheapest I can see the 19 inch shadow chromes on that site are £298 for one or £1195 for four, but those are new. As a starting point I've listed them in the for sale section at £550 ono for the set of four.
