Limp mode / error codes question

I have spent the weekend touring around the Midlands and the FL2 behaved really well, coping with 500 miles with all kinds of roads & weather conditions until I got the dreaded 'reduced engine performance' message while travelling (rather quickly) on fast A roads. Shocked

No other symptoms, warning lights or funny noises - just the message and the loss of about 100 bhp while on my way back to my hotel in the early hours of this morning. I decided to call the RAC out later in the morning and he told me that there were 9 fault codes which were pretty random and it probably meant that the ECU's memory was 'full up' and just went into limp mode as a precaution. He reset the ECU and I was on my way back to Essex when the same thing happened again - back into limp mode while overtaking fast moving traffic.

I called the RAC out again and this time there were 4 fault codes as follows:
P0380 Glowplug / Heater Circuit A
P0234 Turbo overboost condition
P02E0 Diesel intake airflow control
P02E1 Diesel intake airflow control performance

Can anyone give me any pointers before LR performs open heart surgery on my wallet? Cheers,
Raz

Do you have it chipped?

Actually I do - but it is a tuning box designed for economy which has done 10k miles without any problems (gives me 40mpg too!). However as a precaution I have removed it to eliminate it as the cause. Cheers,

All those fault codes sound like like it chip related, over fuelling, air flow issues. I had this with mine, in the end removed remap and cleared codes and it was all fine!

Thanks for the tip - I will keep the tuning box off for a week or so and see if the faults come back. Do you know if it is possible to clear the existing faults without any specialist equipment or is it something I need to get the dealer to do for me? Cheers,
Raz

We have seen a few through our workshops where the little circlip that holds the actuator rod onto the motor, has fallen off, causing P0234 to be stored Smile Strathearn Engineering

Mine had a little stutter last Monday, after hoofing up the M6. It was booked in for it's first 15K service on Tuesday, so I asked them to look for it, but there was nothing to report.
Did about 100 motorway miles yesterday, and all was fine, drove 3 miles to work this morning, then this afternoon, started up to drive home, and I got the 'reduced engine performance' error. Only able to rev to 2,500 rpm and a distinct lack of power. Was only tootling around Manchester, but will be on to the dealers tomorrow to see what they have to say.
Sorry i haven't been on for a while.

I have since done about 200 miles without incident so I am left feeling a bit confused, but have decided to invest in a wifi obd reader for my iphone in case anything crops up again - at least I can hopefully reset it again without the help of the RAC Embarassed

C - I would be very interested to hear what your dealer says might be the cause of the error code so please report back Thumbs Up Cheers,

Mine occasionally goes into limp mode with P0234. Its remapped and usually happens when I'm pressing on and its cold/murky/wet - although there's no real pattern to it. I reset with FCR and all is well for another few thousand miles. I have spoken with a few specialists and dealers about it and they all suspect its to do with the change of parameters in the remap. Its not enough of a bother to drop the remap as the extra oomph makes the car for me.

Land Rover assist came out today. Turns out the software was updated at the service and this caused the problem. I asked them that when i reported it to the dealer, and they didn't think it had been.
Great guy, fixed it in 20 minutes. Sounds as though it is not uncommon...... Indus Silver
