United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Fuji White
When is Black not the same as Black?

I have just bagged a facelift front bumper on eBay (it was such a good price I couldn't resist Laughing ) It was advertised as Sumatra Black and I was expecting to have to repaint it in Narvik Black, however when comparing the two 'colours' they look identical despite one supposedly being a metallic. I will have to recheck in bright sunlight (it was raining when I checked) but just wondered if anyone noticed a difference between these blacks? Cheers,
Raz

A little investigation reveals the CMYK compositions are indeed different.

Narvick = 19,5,0,92
Sumatra = 23,10,0,88

If anything, Narvik should be a tad 'blacker' than Sumatra (which indeed has a little more blue & red in it) but it is really close! Laughing Cheers,
Raz

Yes, probably wouldn't be noticeable on something like a spoiler, but a bumper ..... and 99% of people probably wouldn't notice it, but you would know Smile

Posting about black is fraught with difficulty here. You need to remember that this forum is infested with the lower orders who have no concept of class....they are too busy trying to work out which is closer to the ground, their knuckles or their lower jaw Very Happy

Depends on how colour blind you are, some folk cant tell the difference between red and green traffic lights, so a slight difference in black you could be right!

If it doesn't look obvious, I would leave it as is. If it is at all noticeable, it might affect trade in value as people might think it has been in a front end accident.

Don't forget to post a pic when you have installed the new bumper. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech
