2011 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Lago Grey
Remote power on line for Power amp?

I have upgraded to DSL Reference speakers coupled with Reference RA40 power amp. The amp need a remote power on line to power up, when head unit is switched on. Anyone has got idea for the best place to get this in the original head unit? Mahesh Harischandra

You won't find a power up when head unit is switched on.
The original amp and head unit are always powered up, and wakes up and shuts down to a very low consumption through the MOST bus.
At most you will find a switched 12V when the ignition is on.

Thank you. That is what we found after playing with it long time. Taking a signal from the Headunit LED gives a horrid ground loop and oscillation! Mahesh Harischandra

You can use an optocoupler. The led could be put in parallel with the unit's led and the phototransistor side used to drive an relay.

Hi I am installing a Bazooka Sub & Kenwood amp into MY11 Freelander TDe
Where is the best place to find switched 12V source?
I searched with a DMM and all the fuses in the passenger & luggage space fuse boxes seem to have constant power probably due to the can-bus system.
