England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black

Car has only been in the garage for the two bearing changes (Warranty Direcct). This was an independant LR garage as it seems most use when the LR warranty runs out. My mechanic friend is a classic Mini specialist and I would not trust him near anything with a digital read out. Due a 60k service (at the same garage) in the next couple of weeks so it will be interesting to see what comes of it.

I agree that the main dealer is the best, and all those lovely software updates get done....at £120 per hour labour rates. I was perhaps naive to think that the most expensive car I have ever bought would be better than the last three, all of which did over 120K miles each without major surgery. They just............worked!!

Drove 300 miles over the weekend and found myself driving to the rev counter to avoid the driveline vibration. 6th gear will not work below 65mph without causing the shakes. 50 in 5th is the worst. Use lots of fuel.

Still I suppose I should look on the bright side. A friend is so desperate to offload his FFRR that he is prepared to pay a forfiet on the lease agreement, less than a year in. 2007 TD4 SE Manual Santrini Black

That's exactly what has disappointed me here in Switzerland. Her Ladyship has had some problems (from day one) with her FL2 which has now done 42,000+kms and is only 27mths young. The response from the selling LR dealer was lethargic and their workshop personnel was lax and arrogant. Our current official service centre leaves a lot to be desired. Land Rover CH are unbelievably slow to respond to any warranty claim regardless of the magnitude of the problem. That overall situation has cost them additional private and business sales to this household.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo

Just checked the warranty paperwork and it clearly states that the flywheel, ring gear, slave cylinder and master cylinder are covered. So that may offset some of that big bill if it comes to that. But to say that I would be less than impressed would be an understatement. Be interested to see if an independant LR dealer would recognise the DMF fault. Understandably, they don't seem to have had that much visibilty of the model yet. 2007 TD4 SE Manual Santrini Black

its quite interesting the range of different issues that strike. I have a 95,000 TD4 example that I have currently had for 11,000 miles and I have had a new Flywheel, Airbag Crash Sensor and an Aux Belt idler or something. Thankfully most covered by warranty/dealer!

Reliability issues aside this is easily the best car I've ever bought. its not quite as refined as my 2010 Focus TDCi I used to have but its a 2007 model so its a good few years older, yet it still feels good for the age.

I did 90000 miles in mine and only had a new clutch, flywheel and back diff, and thats all, nothing at all until 65000 when the clutch started slipping, very good I thought and didnt cost me anything to fix either as still under warranty.
I would have another except Im have an Evoque like it or not.

I've owned my freelander 2 for almost 3 years clocked 30,000 miles and had a failed duel mass flywheel at 82,000 miles then a faulty rear door solenoid now a leaking rear Haldex unit now at 92,000 miles this is due to a rusted core plug.

Sounds to me like you have bought a dog of a car. Every manufacturer has bad ones.

But on he whole, the Freelander 2 is a solid reliable car. Mine have been perfect.

But a I totally disagree with your comment about a Mondeo being a better towcar than an FL2. It is not just about pulling power. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Well for whatever reason I still have it and its now on 83K miles.

When away on holiday in the West coast of Scotland last month I was negotiating a steep hairpin bend when there was a load bang followed by a hissing sound and a loss of power. Limped back to the site, but as it was a bank holiday couldn't get anyone to look at it so had to hire a car.

Four days later a garage had a look and found a turbo pipe had come off!!

On the way home, to add insult to injury, the parking sensors and trailer electrics stopped working.

On our previous big holiday, to Cornwall, we were left stranded by the side of the road with the temperature gauge needle off the scale. The RAC man hard wired it so the fans were permanently on so we could limp back

Recently drove my father in laws 12 plate Kia Sorento. Makes my car feel like a Flintstone's car 2007 TD4 SE Manual Santrini Black

I do feel for you, as having a bad car is quite upsetting. But don't let it put you off buying another.

Bad Freelander 2's a few and far between. I too have a relative with a Sorento, it's not a bad car but it's now 3 years old and the trim is starting to come loose and it feels like a budget brand.

Get yourself another Freelander 2. Thumbs Up Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

It doesn't get any better.

Aircon has now packed up with screeching noise when selected. Off to stealers

Oh, and the steering has suddenly become less positive, sort of floppy, lots of tramlining over white lines and utility trenches. 2007 TD4 SE Manual Santrini Black
