When HDC is selected you will see an illuminated pictogram of an FL2 going downhill in the driver's information dashboard display. Press the HDC switch again and that pictogram will disappear. Thumbs Up

Neither HDC or DSC switch is illuminated.
Can't think of a singe reason why not. Except for a cock-up. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I said the pictogram is illuminated - not the switch.

Been in that situation myself, fumbling all over the place for the switch Whistle Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red

Eeerrrr, I think it's fairly obvious, off to the left of the Terraine response...Switches I can never remember are the rear fog and front fog, Pictograms not much use in the dark..... JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

Er JT - what I referred to was the illuminated pictograms that appear in the dash message centre and, the instrument panel. In there the DCS & HDC are shown as illuminated pictograms and that was how I answered to MartynB original post.

On a different (subsequently posted) subject re the F&R Fog lights: whilst the fog switches are not illuminated, which in itself is a very poor design, the driver is alerted to their on/off status on the dash instrument panel. But I feel that both the size and location of the whole lighting switch system is not particularly ergonomically efficient and their (each individual light's recognition) are poorly displayed.

When will LR deliver "heads-up" windscreen alerts? Their competitors are providing this important safety feature.

It just seems plain daft to me that the fan control can have a dozen little lights on it, the TRS can have illuminted poition guides as well as on dash indications but perhaps the most important switch in the car is not identified in the dark although they go to the trounle of giving it an orrange spot for daylight . Not what you want when you are stuck on a verys teep hill in snow and the car in front of you has just lost traction. Any way the Freelander did it's job, but it's a sort of " spoiling the ship for a half'porth of tar " sort of thing IMHO 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Thanks Athelstan, point I was making was that on the few occasions a year I need rear or front fogs I can never remember which switch, or illuminated pictogram is which, so I am not sure I have chosen the right switch...... Call it a senior moment if you will, perhaps I need to check the manual if I think either might be needed and use a post it note.... Lots of switches and all a bit small..... Not being a heavy bloated vehicle, the Freelander copes fantastically without low range Whistle
