Don't chainsaws have a mechanism were they need two hands or the chains tops rotating?
The last one I used was liked this, up a tree on a ladder I still prefer a good sharp bow saw, chainsaws are unforgiving.

My youngest brother is a site manager, they had a young lad struggling with a scaffolding clamp, the lad quickly took a stihl saw to cut through the bracket, it was above him, as soon as the saw gripped it rotated on him, 5 seconds later his left arm was on the floor. Not worth the risk, we all do it though, as you say nothing is 100%

the important thing is to use the right sized saw for the job, you could in theory use my stihl chainsaw one handed but youd need to be strong. and your hand wouldnt be on the top handle so the chain brake wouldnt get knocked on during a kickback.

A mate of mine has a scar from his left shoulder to his right thigh. Moral of the story…… if you don’t know what you are doing use a bow saw Big Cry

Fair point. Just because a professional makes it look easy doesn’t mean that anyone can do it. His wife got rid of the chainsaw while he was in hospital. Embarassed
