Being of a more modest income and lifestyle we will probably miss out on breakfast to save some milk and bread for later on. Herself is going to the soup kitchen after midday as there may be some leftovers for us. We tried asking the kids if we could go there but they didn't need any babysitters so we wouldn't be welcome. We could have had a good Xmas lunch but I had to fill Freely up on Friday and any cash we had left from selling the clothes we had went on that.
On a more serious note a merry Christmas to you all and a Happy New Year! Ralph

Left over Indian takeaway from tonight! I hate turkey, but then again I will be at work earning a stupid amount of money!

My Uncle is hosting this year and smoked salmon is available for starters followed by Turkey and all the trimmings and the mashed potatoes will be made with cream and butter for extra quality. Followed of course by Christmas Pudding and a mince pie if I can find room. A rather nice bottle of red wine called Stonewell Shiraz by Peter Lehman shall be consumed.

Boxing day we are booked at a very nice restaurant where I shall be having medium rare sirloin steak for my main course Thumbs Up

Tonight though gentlemen, I sit back with the fire on eating some homemade mince pies and drinking a very fine Glenfiddich 18 year old single malt whisky. Glenfiddich means Valley of the Deer as I discovered on the distillery tour.

People buy too much food at Christmas and then end up throwing it out. It's a waste when people are dying of starvation. It's also very greedy! I sometimes think all the wasted food should be put in a big pile and it would shame people into thinking twice before clearing out the shelves in the local supermarket.

Could not agree more! Some people had two trollies in the supermarket the other day, they go so over the top!!!! Such a waste of money.

Agreed. We should be thankful that we are fortunate enough to be able to buy lots and eat lots because as you say dunroof there are people (such as those in Africa) dying in poverty and starvation. I donate to charities that help people less fortunate and as Bono famously sang in 'Do They Know It's Christmas?':

No one appears to be having British chicken reared at a well known establishment in Yorkshire. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.
