Thanks for that Reg Thumbs Up

I bought a full set from Automotive Enhancements. The rears are great, i fitted them in a couple of minutes but the fronts are still in the box. They aren't even the right shape and if they were the hole is in the totally wrong place.

I think i will order some fronts Thumbs Up 59 TD4e XS in galway green

Well, I spent the last 1/2 a day fitting the mud flaps ! first two and half hours feet up with a cup of tea reading the instructions and pondering why the instructions were incomprehensible and were they produced by a human or a monkey with an Etch -a -Sketch Question , I mean I have a responsible job with a high technical content so why couldn't I understand these from the start Laughing

The backs were a doddle, the only tools used were screwdriver, a stubby screw driver, and a pair of mole grips just to gently squeeze the trim clip into position.

Using the same stubby screwdriver the removable front plastics were stripped off (with the wheels turned to full lock,) and drilled/trimmed as per instructions, where I did deviate from the instructions was after fitting the metal brackets, rather than marking the plastics which are left on the car, removing the metal, trimming the plastic with a stanley knife then refitting the metal bracket , I just trimmed i around the brackets in situ using my Soni-crafter tool( brilliant thing!) popped on the spire clips and assembled Thumbs Up 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I was thinking exactly the same while trying to figure out the instructions / hieroglyphics - why do they make them so complicated? Laughing

In the end I decided to use a pair of tin snips and cut the trim with the bracket in situ - it worked for me and everything fitted nice and flush with the bodywork so not a bad job. Cheers,
Raz

I bought some non genuine flaps for the RRS, good quality (rimmer bros), anyway one fell off at high speed on the A1, a big bang then saw it in the mirror heading skywards Evil or Very Mad
I managed to source a single genuine replacement, silly money but cheaper than a rear set of fake ones.

sadly they are now slightly different, the genuines are shorter but wider, Im not OCD enough to care frankly.

similar build quality on both, infact the non genuines fit better and have smaller screw holes, so dont rely on washers to hold them on.

both rears now have extra self drilling screws in to prevent them falling off again.

RRS fitment is very similar to fl2 design in that they dont actually screw into anything solid Rolling Eyes At work

Due to an RRS owner now strongly attaching his mudflaps to his RRS, Regular users of the A1, please be on the lookout for a pair of Mudflaps, attached to a RRS rear bumper Whistle

FWIW I just had my OE rear mudflaps replaced under warranty. Although securely fixed they didn't follow the wheel arch contour correctly - a 5-10 mm gap had appeared in the middle bit over the course of the first year. The garage replaced them as they reckoned they were non-adjustable. Said they had seen that sort of thing happen before. Brian

the genuine part fits marginally better then the fake one, neither are a great fit, but at same time neither are terrible either At work

I fitted a set of OEM mudflaps. The rear ones were very easy to fit, but the front ones are the work of the devil. Once I had deciphered the overly complicated cartoon instructions and farted about with the left hand one for a while, I eventually worked it out, so the right hand one was a relative doddle. The fixings that came with them were a joke. Thank goodness for my little jar of odds and ends in the garage!

I'm pleased with the overall result.....

Only got the car a couple of weeks ago and came in a relatively clean condition. However, I have a bit of a thing about clean cars, so gave it a good scrub, polish, wax and detail last week. Looks like a new pin.

The interior came like new...so nothing to do there.

After only a few miles, the top retaining lugs on both rear mud flaps have sheared off.

I'm going to drill holes and fix with self-tappers directly to the wheel arch. garioch43
