England 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Sumatra Black
New Delivery

Hi guy’s
Finally settled my wrangles with Stratstone Bury (who came good in the end) and handed in my much loved 57 Manual Red FL2 SE. Specification of the new one is as follows; HSE SD4 automatic in Sumatra Black, Storm seats, Lacquered Piano interior, Factory fitted privacy glass.

First impressions are.
Likes;Thumbs Up
Automatic gearbox is a dream.
Steering wheel looks smaller and is more sporty.
SD4 feels smooth and faster.
Lacquered Piano interior looks great and finishes off the interior.
Extended chrome boot lid looks great.
Steering feels lighter and more responsive but this is comparing it to the last FL2 that had done 63000 miles.

Disappointments; Big Cry
Seats feel smaller or maybe my arse has got bigger! But seriously they seem shorter and don’t support my legs. Measuring seats may become a topic!
Being a big music fan the DAB radio is a letdown as is doesn’t display the artist.
Grey door handles, I don’t think I have to say anymore. Will be getting them changed.
For an expensive car LR could have gone the extra mile and provided a spare wheel. Her indoors (not allowed in the new car) would not have a clue what to do if she got a puncture.

Other things not sure about; Question
The Sumatra black changes colours which is a bit worrying when it goes BLUE! With a user name like mine I cannot be seen in a blue car.
Can’t wait to give it a good drive out.

Special thanks to BIGALF for the good advice and calming me down. Thumbs Up

hi manufan

I have the same colour Freelander and know what you mean about the Blueness, if fact when i had the spoiler and face lift bumpers sprayed, the chap at the spray shop couldn't find the right paint , eventual rang one of his mates at the local LR garage and the colour is know in the Trade as Midnight Blue, even has it on the pot of touch up paint i have , but never bothered looking at it Laughing

Enjoy the new Thumbs Up Freelander

IMHO I'd agree about the door handles which are a very easy change. Pulled this out of your gallery, hope you don't mind Thumbs Up

Hi BIGALF,

Took your advice and yes I got a LR Experience day for four people. Time to move on and get over the bad memories and try and enjoy the car. I have posted some pictures in my profile.

I'd check the 4 people as most Experience Centres will only allow 3 guests in a Freelander as you need a seat for the instructor and 3 in the back can be a tight fit. Think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what the Freelander can do and the Experience ones are usually SD4s.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Where do I start?

MARTYN: I have been given two vouchers, each for two people so I was hoping to get two different dates at two different locations. Thanks for the heads up I will make sure I book early.

TAZTASIC: Have you got any pictures of the arse sticker?

R1JIM: Now strange as it may sound but I was born in North Manchester, not the soft South side, but I have a confession to make! I now live just north of Manchester but still in Greater Manchester so I am relaxed about my allegiance, so no wise cracks please.

TOEKNEE: if I had known it only took a wash to get rid of the blue I would have given our noisy neighbours on the other side of the city a hosing down. Yours looks great any chance you could come over and wash mine.

manufan if your car was registered in Greater Manchester how come it has a J registration? Instead of M. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.

English by birth..... Yorkshire by the grace of God.
