On your "drift" subject of winter tyres/serrated grooves etc - This morning I didn't get snow but I did get ice. Going through the "esses" in Car Colston I felt a tad of a four-wheel slip sideways. Very limited and noticeably controlled such that I felt no need to adjust my speed at all. The Disco 2 (previously following close behind) suddenly dropped back very quickly and was not seen again. Clearly he didn't have Ranger Ice fitted! Wink 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Did you notice the DSC come on?
Er indoors borrowed my FL2 last winter one day and said it came on loads of times.
She's not using it again!! Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

No DSC. Mind you, I did not lose traction. I guess DSC will come on if you use the throttle in "on/off" mode! Whistle 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Ah, see, my Mrs is one of those who thinks 'it's a Landrover' and should go anywhere. Also she never reads any instructions.
Thinks she can go downhill in snow and ice and stop.
Anyway, i've got my Nokian boots on now, but she's not using the car in bad conditions unless she listens and goes to a big private empty car park with me and get some practice. (No naughty comment please) Laughing Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Just ensure for both your protection that you are using the correct rubber, preferably with a serrated groove for heightened excitement Thumbs Up

If you're going to practice in a car park - perhaps you should invite some people to watch - ensure you're using the correct techniques Whistle 2002 Honda VFR800

I'll take your advice and never fit cheap remoulds. I've heard that they can fail at sustained high speeds and become detached from the rim Laughing Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
