Sounds like the winter wiper park mode is activated. This will store the wipers in a slightly elevated position, I presume to prevent them collecting water and freezing.

I initially had a look on the MicroCat but wasn't able to find anything relating to the part in question, just the rubber seal for around the door. |

Ah so more bunching up of the rubber rather than rust bubbles? Would make sense, it is the same both sides as the mirrors automatically fold in upon locking the car.

| Mine did this recently on MY13 SD4 auto after a service. Turns out a non OEM fuel filter was fitted. Had an OEM one fitted afterwards and now the problem has gone. No more worries about pulling away. |
