I initially had a look on the MicroCat but wasn't able to find anything relating to the part in question, just the rubber seal for around the door.

Ah so more bunching up of the rubber rather than rust bubbles? Would make sense, it is the same both sides as the mirrors automatically fold in upon locking the car.

Mine did this recently on MY13 SD4 auto after a service. Turns out a non OEM fuel filter was fitted. Had an OEM one fitted afterwards and now the problem has gone. No more worries about pulling away.
