I have a freelander 2010 SE, so without the rear seat audio controls.

Today, my dealer gave me the audio controls. It is really easy to plug it but it doesn't work

Do you have any idea ?

Do you think it's possible that the CAME27B isn't switch to the amplifier ?

Don't worry about your English, it's better than my French - and better than some English people's English!
Assuming all models have the same amplifier module, then connector C3ME25B would be the connector (in the centre console?) that looms through to C4ME27B and into the amplifier module. Is there a connection plugged into this point on the amplifier?
Things you can try:
1. If the connector type is the same on the control panel and it is suitably male/female you could plug your control/socket panel directly into the amplifier connector C4ME27B, assuming there is a loom tail on the panel.
2. With a multimeter, try meter continuity through the loom from C4ME27B to C3ME25B.
3. Pin C3ME25B-5 will probably meter to the car chassis via the amplifier since the phones amplifier is single ended, not bridge tied load.

Is the control panel intended to fit in the back of the centre console for rear seat control? Have you found more than one unused connector in that area?

I measure between the red arrow and the car chassis :



=> 0 volt when the audio is off
=> 3.5 volt when the audio in on and without the module
=> 2.7 volt when the audio in on and with the module
=> different values between 0 and 2.7 volt when the audio in on and with the module and i press a knob

=> no electrical potential difference between other and the car chassis

No sound

Do you know if the audio screen change when using the rear control ?

Default rear audio volume sets in 0. Try to increase the volume with '+' knob.
I don't understand whereby does audio get to this jack?

I'll investigate this further. I've never used my rear seat audio controls so I need to learn more. As I understood it, the minijack is an earphone connection, not a line input. If so, it would be driven by the amplifier module with its own gain/volume stage - controlled by the panel buttons. I wouldn't expect the controls to affect the loudspeakers - only the jack. Of course, I could be way off the mark here, so will investigate further tomorrow.

In your picture with arrow, the arrow point to pin2. Pin 1 and 3 are missing.
The pins are like this:
Pin2 - Remote control supply voltage.
Pin3 - Remote control return line.
Between those two, in accordance with which button was pressed, a certain resistor is introduced. In this way different level of tension are generated, based on the corresponding resistor. Then the Amplifier, through a Analog to Digital Converter, knows what button was pressed.
Pin5 - Audio GND
Pin6 - Left Channel Audio Out.
Pin7 - Right Channel Audio Out.
Those are self explanatory.
I believe that the Main Audio Unit should be coded - with the use of dealer's diagnostic tool - to know that the rear modules are attached and enable the audio out to them.

Just checked mine to see how it works, since I've never used them.
It is as expected - 2 separate panels, each with a headphone output (not line input) which has its own mode (source radio/CD/line) selection and volume controls. Operation is entirely independent of the loudspeaker system and no indications or feedback appears on the display when the rear controls are used.
I had to press the mode button and increase the volume before I got any sound - presumably because the default (ignition on) setting is/was line input with volume at zero.
If your panel (freefree) gives no headphone sound after pressing volume + and mode a few times then I would say that your stereo needs coding/programming.

I come back from my dealer and he said (after 2 hours) : "we didn't manage to activate the module, we must ask Land Rover how to do it"

My dealer called me today.

The answer from Land Rover is: " it's impossible. There isn't audio module in the Freelander 2 anymore."

no audio module in the HSE ??

just found my information

dropped on any build from 1st January 2010, in line with the new RRS and D4

Shame, theres 1000's of people with them in theirs cars that just never use them too and when you want them you can't have them any more
