United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

I'm leaning more towards a freelander 2 now. Because they've already lost a lot of their value, I could buy one and then sell it in 6 months. If I buy a newer DS, I'll have to commit to it for longer.

For the price of a newer DS, I could have a freelander 2 and a new Jimny and have twice the fun.

For me, reliability is my top concern, I want something that I only need to take into the garage once or twice a year.

I am not sure what it is you want. If you are only keeping it for 6 months why worry what it is like.

My on experience of the FL2s that I have owned over the last 7 years is that they are reliable and comfortable.
I believe that the higher specification model of the SD4 Auto are the most mini- 'Range Rover' -like.

I am sure that once you have tried a FL2 you will keep it (much) longer. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

How long I keep it, depends on what I get. It's a second car.

Any advice on the models? On the HSE models is the extra weight from the sun roof and electric seats a problem? I've always thought that electric seats on a car are a complete waste

Extra weight is no problem to a SD4 FL2. It weighs so much to start with that I have in the past driven around with 8 bags of gravel in the boot, with little apparent loss in performance, and only remembered them once I was home.

The nicer things only come on the higher specs, which I believe are worth having, if you are after a luxury 4x4 experience.

If you are worried about reliability, buy from a good garage, looking for a complete service history, and a worthwhile warranty.
The FL2 is not a car too run on a shoe string, its too complicated, and will bite you if you neglect it. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
