factory radio lr2 2007 radio help needed

Hi, i have a question for the technicians on this forum Mr. Green

o, i'm not that good in English grammar Embarassed Embarassed

My question;

I have a lr2 from 2007 with a factory l359-6cd400 radio in it.
The 6cd player part of the radio doesn't work, giving me the desk failure fault on screen.

So i bought a second hands l359-cd400 radio, 1 cd and radio. Less parts to malfunction
Streight fit, same front and same connections.

The radio does come on and works about 10 seconds.
Then it is saying; Wrong vin-number and shuts down.
Every time when i turn the radio on on it shuts down after 10 seconds whit the same message.

Wil i be able to reset the radio, or are there any tricks so i can use this second hand l359-cd400 radio?
The dealer say's it can't , but i think it is a software issue.
On the mother bord of the radio there are places printed for both type of connections for using the 6cd or 1 cd player.
But have to solder a new connection.

If it is a software related thing, how can i reset the 2nd hand radio for using it on my lr2?

Any help is welkom.

Changing from a 6cd to a 1cd player will complicate the swap even more.

Replacing it with a used identical unit might work but it is depending on the unit you buy, see here http://www.freel2.com/forum/post329045.html#329045 and here http://www.freel2.com/forum/post328672.html#328672

I bought a complete kit from incartec.
This one: Freelander 2 fitting kit basic audio with PDC
FK-853-4

And bought an aftermarket radio : PIONEER AVH-A200BT -Model 2018

would this be a streight swap? fitting the pioneer or are there any other grimlins i need to recon with?
did read i need a 12volt source from the key switch?

It wanted to keep the steering controlls and the parking sensor tones.
Radio does has a reverse camera output, but that will come later. don't actualy need them.

I might be wrong but I think the kit you bought is not for a car with a Alpine premium radio, think the kit you need is the FK-853-5. Someone used it and got it working, see here http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic29013.html. It looks like the 2 kits are similar but the FK-853-5 contains extra cables for connecting the radio to the amplifier in the trunk and for closing the fiber optic loop after removing the radio. If you don't close the fiber optic loop the sat nav (if you have it) will no longer work.

I don't have the alpine system i think.
Just the standard radio unit.
Can't vind alpine on the speakers and looking at these i have the std sound system.
Just the std headunit with the 6cd player build in the head unit. L359-6cd-400 unit.

I have a 2007 Freelander S Td4 with some extra's like the rear parking sensors, L/R climate control, cruise control.
Coud be an GS spec but i found only the S on the back of the car. No fancy leather seats do Big Cry

My mistake. I didn't know basic radios could also have a 6 CD changer and steering control.

This is an image of a basic radio:

If yours looks like this then yes, you have a basic unit. The premium one has the CD slot above the display.

In this case you might be lucky. Then the set you ordered should be OK and it is probably an easy swap. What I found here it is much easier to replace a basic radio with an aftermarket one, to replace a premium one is more work because of the fiber optic loop. I think a FL2 with a basic radio does not have the fiber optic loop.

yes that type of radio is built in mine lr2.
there are 2 types, l359-cd-400 and l359-6cd-400
mine is the 6cd-400, and i am not that keen on the changer/cdplayer built in.
mine doesn't work, giving me the desk failure error.
disconnecting the battery didn't help, helping it by hand to upper or lower position also didn't.

also tried to get a cd in and in the rotating position didn't help, so there is something not sending it position signals.

bought an expensive 2nd hands l359-cd400 radio 1cd type, but then i get the wrong vin number message. Evil or Very Mad Censored

So i think it is time to upgrade the main radio to modern standard, when sorting the adaptors and wirering it schould be usable for most aftermarket din2 units i think.
But i can't vind any easy understandeble wirering diagrams, "how to fit a aftermarket radio in the lr2 for dummy's" Mr. Green
