Disco 5 drive.

I had a drive in my brother in law's new Disco 5 HSE from Birnham to Pitlochry and back again. (about 20mls)

Very impressed, good driving position and very smooth.

He said that he prefers his previous Disco 4 as it felt more like a Landrover should, but the Disco 5 would do me !!

They are nice aren’t they? We picked up my DiL’s D5 (bells and whistles) company car a few months ago and on the drive home it was very noticeable how much better it was than the previous version she had (also a D5) so they seem to be making useful in service improvements.....unless of course her first one was a dog! Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

The D5 is a very nice place to be, not that the 4 wasn’t, but the 5 is head and shoulders above the 4 in that respect.

It was the constant early service warnings on the TD6 3.0 (single turbo 258hp) that killed it for me. I don’t know if the SDV6 3.0 (twin turbo 306hp) is any better. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Okay, we’re never going to agree on that one Wink but, moving swiftly on... Very Happy

I had a 306 bhp D5 out as a loaner for a few hundred miles and despite only having about 1,800 miles on the clock, the service count down was well ahead of itself and well on its way to its first oil change already. Such as a shame, because it’s a great engine and with 306 bhp. it really flew Thumbs Up

We’ve got an ultra rare 3.0 Supercharged HSE Lux Dynamic in the family and I’d be happy to progress onto a D5 from a FL2.

but you could you put your personal stamp on a D5 in the same way as your FL2 Ed ?

I do think they are very very nice though and I just do my best to ignore the offset rear number plate, although it does make it instantly recognisable.

There’s various companies that now offer styling mods for the D5.

I’ll be looking to replace the Velar soon, I was looking at a RRS but I’m not sure it’s for me. I’d possibly consider a return to the D5 but at the moment it’s looking like another Velar either a D275 or D300. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Maybe not as many accessories available for it when it was launched But they are growing you can get inbuilt laser spot lights which are situated in the grill. The standard laser headlamps beam spread is crazy with dipped lights but you can never beat more beam spread. The laser lights knocks spots my my Xenons Embarassed

They still are Thumbs Up

I’d say that your personal opinion of them now which is perfectly fine.

There’s a gap in the market and if a 3rd Party company grabs it and makes money then why not Wink MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I thought that they’d moved away from tuning and other performance development work, into selling aftermarket styling modifications, like body kits and “performance” wheels, along with interior re-trims and accessories, like branded sunglasses and umbrellas; have I got that wrong?
