Any keen swimmers on here?

Until very recently, I hadn’t been swimming for years but me and SWMBO went to Durham and used the spa at the hotel and I quite enjoyed it.

My dodgy back is my motivation for considering swimming regularly as I understand swimming is good for bad backs. I have a crushed vertebrae between my shoulder blades and seem to be having some disc trouble now in my lower back. I’m just wondering if the spa facilities at the local Nuffield Health Centre are worth the extra over the local standard leisure centre.

Will cost me about £7 more per month than leisure centre fees but on the plus side, it’ll be free of scrotes/creatures/criminals, the pool is heated, there’s a jacuzzi and easy access to physio.

Any thoughts or experience from keen swimmers or members of spa/health clubs? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

From a back perspective, it might be worth speaking to your doctor before you go on a swimming kick.

I herniated a disc in my back a few years ago and my physio explained that I should not go swimming because although it is zero impact, it can still put pressure on the discs due to the way the body is in the pool.

It'll depend on the injury of course, but it would be worth checking as obviously you don't want to make it any worse. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
