Rear suspension clunk/knock

Got a knocking noise at back of the car thats been getting worse. Tried to check links for any play but can’t feel any.
On the drivers side there is the rubber damper which is loose? But why is there not one on passenger side too? Can I just cut it off or tiger seal it back? Any thoughts

The misting of oil on that protecting rubber sleeve means you’re struts are probably stuffed. The sleeve is there to keep crap off the strut piston rod and needs to be retained or be on both sides. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

At least it looks like a replace and the problems gone, hate it when you start putting bits on and the problem is still there.

These are not just pull off and fit. They need to be carefully aligned when putting back so when stripping mark carriers to check exactly the rebuild setup. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

What is this for? (Green Arrow)

It's not there on the opposite side (Red Arrow)

I am assuming that this is what you tightened up?
