PPI recalim

I've never bothered trying to reclaim any PPI payments, as I don't think I have ever had it.

A number of friends have come back to me and said that they just went for it and a few were surprised to find that they had indeed had it without knowing.

I've decided to give it a try, and I know the claim company will take a cut, but I can live with that.

Any recommendations which claim company to use would be appreciated. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Not done anything with this yet either.
But I think best bet is to find out what percentage these guys will take from you.
I believe you also have to pay tax on the pittance remaining. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Its worth checking what the process is direct with the company. I filed out the form on the banks web site and had a good result that way it just takes a bit more time.

We used to have a M&S credit card and I wrote to them and a few weeks later got a cheque for over ÂŁ250. What surprised me is that the amount of PPI paid can be quite small but that they have to pay you interest on it at something like 8% which soon racks up after say 20 years. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

My PPI claims company were due to take 30%. The only tax you’ll pay is on any interest received and then it’s only for those in the 40% tax band (and then only for the extra 20% that they should have paid in the first place).

In the end I simply went to Barclays (where I had my PPI in the first place) and it was unbelievably easy. About 2 weeks later, several thousand pounds just appeared in my bank account 😁

For just a little thought on where you had PPI, you’ll have little hassle and save losing 30% of your own money Thumbs Up

Go to Money Saving Expert site, print off the claim forms and send them to the relevant card companies. It'll cost you paper, envelopes and stamps; can't understand why anyone's happy for an outside 'claims company' taking perhaps 30%/40% of any monies for doing the same.
Not even taking a cut for that advice Wink

Yeah, don't use a claims company - just contact any credit card companies or mortgage lenders. Most of them have an online form to fill out and that's it.

Doesn't even matter if you can't remember account numbers when you had the account etc etc. As long as you can provide an address or two and your basic details you're sorted.

I did it with M&S credit card, got a call from their PPI people and my answer to most of their questions was "I don't know" or "I can't remember"and I was totally honest and said I don't know if I had PPI but thought it was worth checking. Few weeks later got ÂŁ250 in the post. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental

a few years ago when claiming was at its peak I contacted my bank regarding 2 loans I had taken out in the early 90's when I was still married.
Cost me a phone call and couple of follow up postal forms and I got 4.5k back..... unfortunately my money grabbing ex wife was entitled to half as the loans had been a joint account, even though I had paid every payment out my personal account. Censored Censored Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

definitely don't go through a claims company, they will rob you of thousands

Not had a loan or mortgage for many, many years thankfully and as I do not run on credit card credit I won't waste the cost off a stamp on looking for any of the so called free money.

A long while back I worked with a young lass and we could have on sick the best part of a year. Told her not to add sickness protection to her car loan etc but she totally ignored me, to me that was mis-selling but if you are daft enough to pay it when you know its factored into the credit cost I personally can't see why anyone should be paid a dime in compensation. A bigger scandal is insurance companies with 2 departments, the one department that takes your money and the second one that refuses to pay out. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
