Front Fog Lights - Fixed

Hi All

I've got a curious issue with my front fog lights. I tried to use them the other evening and I heard the fuse pop, the dash indicator did not illuminate either. OK, I thought, perhaps a bulb has gone and it's shorted out the fuse. Changed the fuse and it popped again.

I checked both bulbs and both fine. Popped in a new fuse and all was well - fog lights working and dash indicator on too.

It was particularly foggy this morning, so flicked them on, dash indicator on and there was a noticeable increase in light at the front. When I got to work, switched off the fogs but no difference in light output, I checked the front and no fogs on but the dash indicator was illuminated. I haven't checked the fuse yet but imagine it has popped.

Do I have a short somewhere? I have an issue with my parking sensors. Not got a diagnostic as yet to identify which sensor is the culprit but as the fogs are in the same harness at the front, could there be an issue in the front bumper I wonder? 2010MY 2.2 e4 (gone but, not forgotten)

The front bumper is the first place I would look. So its front bumper off completely.

I have photos should you need them.

Powerful do a video on how to do this.

Good Luck

Thanks Largered, I have had the bumper off in the past (facelifted it). What I can't remember is when did my sensor issue start, was before or after my bumper change? It's all looking likely! 2010MY 2.2 e4 (gone but, not forgotten)

Front Fog Lights - Fixed

I finally got around to taking the front bumper off this weekend. Lo and behold, the bumper harness was breached in two places against the crash beam.

User error I'm afraid. When I fitted the facelift bumper I fitted the harness using the ties already on the harness. Unwittingly, this located the harness right along the crash beam, and the harness rubbed on it. Four wires were damaged, one had been cut through (white, blue stripe for right inner sensor), and one other was shorting the feed to the right fog light.

All repaired, and the harness secured well away from the beam. I now have working front fog lights AND parking assist! 2010MY 2.2 e4 (gone but, not forgotten)
