Do you have access to a code reader to check fault codes? Check all battery/starter connections are all good and secure.

Hi

Apologies for taking so long to get back to you, work has a habit of interferring in the good stuff.

I tracked the fault down to the starter motor, looks like it had burnt out. Result was that the car was going through the start up procedure but the starter wasnt turning.

New starter and all is well.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. 57 SE i6
