GGAT3 or Cooper Sport AT3?

Hi Flora needs new dancing boots, I can't decide which to get.

I had the GGAT2 on my disco and they were the best tyres I ever fitted, however this doesn't mean the replacements will Rock a Freelander.

I'm after something way stiffer and more puncture resistant than the Good year things it's fitted with at present.

So any suggestions very welcome.

Im a big General Grabber fan. Bow down
Had both AT2 and AT on my Td5 Disco and lasted brilliantly.
Replaced my original Censored Goodyear with a set of GGAT3 on the Freelander approx 5k miles ago. Very impressed with them already. Plan to swap them front to back just to even wear at about every 5k.
My wife's VW Tiguan has GG GT fitted, first set lasted 40K, replaced with same.
Considered Cooper but from memory the speed rating was wrong - not that it would be a big issue on a 4x4, also BFGoodrich AT but significantly more expensive.
I really dont think you'll go wrong with Generals, Ive been buying them exclusively for years. Thumbs Up Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Hi how many miles you get out of a set of GG AT3 and what sort of MPG looking to replace 235/65r17 soon.

On the subject of mileage from tyres, you may be interested in my recent experience over three years with Continental Crosscontact 235/65R17 on my Sd4 auto HSE: 39,600 miles of which 60% has been French motorways with numerous crossings of the Alps and Pyrenees. Faultless performance on deliberately downsized 17" wheels from rock hard 19" blings.
After much reading on this forum, and advice from Honest John, have gone for Pirelli Scorpio Allseason, which were similar money three years on.
I hope their longevity matches the Contis.

After reading on here and other reviews I went General Grabber At3's and find them great so far. No noticeable drop in MPG and no noisier than the original tyres - will be interested to see how they last - mostly on road miles with some green lanes etc.

Can I throw another in the mix and ask has anyone used Kumho? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

We ran Kuhmo on an RX300 about ten years ago, they were well rated tyres even back then but I was never very happy with them in the wet, always felt a bit skittish........I changed from those to Conti UHP and the difference was night and day.

After the Conti we started running winter tyres all year ( Nokian ) and they felt better than the original Kuhmos, which by rights they shouldn’t have been, but were.

Kuhmo are good tyres, certainly not ”ditchfinders” like some of the Far East offerings, but I wouldn’t use them again. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......
